anyone have any experience with the self submitting? Do they call your agent if they want you for an audition and have you been called and does it happen a lot? Thanks! Wink

I started doing when my DD wasn't getting requested. I felt our previous agent wasn't submitting her. So I started, and I got a call. And yes, they will call you if you submit your DD/DS. She booked from her photo. It does happen and since I've submitted to a few more. I definitely think its worth it. Others I know have also gotten work from self submitting. Also there are breakdowns that go out to public that agents don't get. We have benefited from it. GL

thanks...I've done it a few times...we get enough calls from her agent since we're only doing full time. I just didn't know how it worked. I will go to agency if we got an audition from one. Just wondering how much it happens ...the auditions...we've had quite a few....thanks so much and have a great night!

We've gotten 2 jobs from self submitting and one call (but my DS wasn't a fit.) We always alerted and paid our manager.

HI Nictim7,
Are you thinking of self-submitting? If your agent is sending you out on auditions (and it seems that they are)and you are doing it part-time why are you thinking of self submitting. It's also very cool that you are only doing this part-time. Your agent rocks! Our agent would drop us if we thought of doing this part-time. You have a pretty good agent, if they are willing to work with your schedule or your cutie's schedule. Can I ask why you are not doing this full-time?
TIA.

Hi Kouklaface...yes, our agent said it would be part time and my dd wants to go to school. She loves the auditioning part and loved filming the commercial but just still wants to be in school. I don't think we could do fully time unless we were home schooling. Self submitting only pops up once in awhile so why not do it, it still goes thru our agent! And yes, her agent totally ROCKS! We adore her and the rest of the gang! XO Wink

That's cool Nictim, we also don't homeschool my children. I would just die! I dont have the patience that other parents have to homeschool my kids. Plus with them being so far apart in age (4 yrs) I think its important for them to have social interactions with others their age. We are lucky that our agent schedules our auditions after school or after i get off of work. I use to self submit but dont do it now that we have an agent. We are sometimes busy with our oldest that the down time i have to spend with them when we are not out on auditions is precious to us. You know we do the acting class, she's the Student Council V.P and is in a book club at school. Right now she's got her button nose buried in her computer trying to get ideas on how to pitch a Talent Show to her school. Any free time is spent "vegging" on the couch and getting them re-energized. We also dont live close to LA and it takes about 45 minutes travel to an audition.
Best of luck and sucess to you and your little one.

I know, it's totally crazy. I thought our agent wanted us to self submit and said that's how one of the CF worked. There aren't too many so I'm not worried and right now feels like a huge break. We drive two hours to get there and then it's about a five hr trip...that's another reason it's part time. Mine is 7 and I have 5 kids...crazy. I'm able to do this because my hubs owns his business and can watch the other kids...very blessed! Maybe we'll meet up someday..I'll keep you posted and see if your going to the same one! Thanks for the luck and you too...as long as their having fun..that's all that matters. Right now, she's having a ball! Have a great day...chat again soon! I like the vegging on the couch part...us too! XO

You are a super woman.... At times I can't handle my 2 kids if it wasnt for my hubby who also moonlights as a chauffeur (?) for auditions. I promise you I would be bald, really! Where do you live? That's a long ride home, but you are right- it's worth it. Here's to hoping to meet you at a casting!

I self submit when I see something I feel is a good fit for my kids or when it's a slow time for them. You really should tell your agent though. There are conflicts that could arise down the line.

She is the one who told me to do it and then if they want us for an audition it will go thru her...awesome. I will only do it if it is slow or it's fit as well. Thanks...
have a great holiday weekend! Smiler

I have another related question...
How do I know if the agent has submitted my DD? Would it matter if we both submitted her? If I am submitting for a no pay or low pay project it is an easy call.

Recently, I wanted to submit my DD for a more substantial project and I was concerned that if we both submitted her it may cause problems. I contacted her agent and she told me that she was already submitted, but I know how busy our agent is and it seems silly to waste her time if double submission is not a big deal anyway.

Nictim, check with your reps before self submitting, some are fine with it others are not. I think because of what Mamager brought up. We have no way of knowing if our DC's have been submitted on a certain project and I am sure that there are CD's out there that don't want to have to go through a bunch of extra submissions because actors are getting submitted twice.
