There is an open call for a staged reading of Little Miss Sunshine next weekend for spring of 2013. Does anyone have experience with staged readings? We would be traveling for the audition, and my daughter is dying to go, but I don't know if this is something they will just seek locally? Anyone else planning to attend and if so are you coming from near or far?

DD was supposed go in today but she is sick and has lost her voice, which doesnt work for a singing role. Frowner I'm so sad for her because she worked so hard on the song. As far as doing a staged reading, she has done one once before but it was on a smaller scale. GLTA!

Oh, that is terrible for her! Can she reschedule, or at least go to the open call? Hopefully she will be on the mend and ready to sing soonSmiler

Thank you. I'm not sure what will happen. Her agent is going to check and let us know. I'm not sure if the open call is an option but I will certainly check on that. Thanks again for you kind words and I'm hoping she will be ready for action when the next opportunity arises.

Agent submitted my DD's headshot for Little Miss Sunshine audition. They replied with a no, saying that she is too pretty. I really feel that, in personality and voice, she could be a good fit for the role. Should I bring her to the open call, knowing that the office( who is very familiar with her), didn't even want to see her?

BrightLights,

I saw you posted that she just spent a day doing cb's for Annie. if it's the same dd, my gut would be to abstain, as it's both Telsey (I think?), so it would seem they do indeed know your dd well. I think making redundeant work for a CD would not be good.

That being noted, my dd's and I sort of followed the original Annie auditions on FB. My oldest was too young to submit, but she adores the show. There was on girl who was knocked out during a NYC CB, headed back to another open call in a different city, and made it to the finals. So perhaps Telsey likes tenacity?

It sounds like your dd (dd's) are coming close to a lot of roles, so something is bound to happen soon! They must be v talented. Good luck!

Good luck at the open call today! My dd will be the one with the poorly timed laryngitis. LOL - isn't that always the way?

We were there today. A very quick in and out....16 bars without an accompanist, with immediate notification of callbacks. We were #3 in line, and my daughter got dismissed after the first round. (One girl in her group of 10 got through.) Curious how it went for others? She had fun and felt great about it. She said there was one person in the room--a nice man. Pretty big turnout, I thought. Hope you all had a good experience! (And if Anna's mom is on here, hello from Polly!)

So glad that your dd had fun! My dd (who is AN Anna, but I'm not sure if she's THE Anna. She went straight to rehearsal so I can't ask if she met a Polly) did get a callback. She said around 14 kids ended up with callbacks. She thinks she did well, so we'll see!

Just saw a posting, now they are holding an open call in LA on Feb 2nd for Oive? Has anyone heard of any callbacks from the auditions that were on Jan 2nd or 3rd or will that not happen until all these open calls are over? GLTA

Hi, I am new on this post and just found out that there is an open call in LA. Being that we are in N. Cal, this is now an option for us. However, my question for everyone, do they really find someone in an open call or do they do there looking/finding from agents? Also, what exactly is a staged reading and if we do go, what should my daughter be prepared to do or will they give her they reading/song? Finally, I am not a member of this site, only actors access, where do I find out particulars of where to show up, etc. Thank you in advance.

Hi all! Do you know if the girls (at the open call) who were notified of a call back went right in for the CB that day, or were they asked to come back on a different date? @ Vanada - my DD went in on Jan 2 and so far we have not heard of any CB's from those appointments either.

olovely - Here's the information about the CA open call. I would have your dd be prepared with a 16 bar cut and then other songs in case they want to hear something else. http://broadwayworld.com/non-e...sthash.cmKz3KW4.dpbs

Bwaygirl - It was a same day callback.
