| Seems as if they may have found what they were looking for. Looks as if they cancelled the Sept 30th audition for Matilda. We are new to this business, are the audition processes for these shows always so all over the place like this one is? |

| My DD's manager sent a change in audition schedule to us from the casting directors website and that date is no longer on there. I didnt question it because my DD is too tall anyway, but it isnt listed on broadway world anymore either. |

| just basing that off some of the articles I had read, I don't mean she literally popped out of middle of nowhere Iowa or something, and I didn't say that either. But what I read was that she wasn't the norm, she wasn't all phony and "child actor-y" when she auditioned, she was real and to them, "came out of nowhere" compared to what they had seen. I'm sure she did have some experience. I don't follow her career so I don't know what her resume holds, nor do I care. I was just basing this off what I read and what the Matilda casting calls for based off of wanting "normal, real kids" who aren't dancers.
Either way, I like her...a lot. All of her interviews are so sweet and she is modest, personable, talented, and unlike so many others who have a serious air of arrogance. You come across as a little offended or something though. Maybe your own daughter will end up as Matilda and she will be just as likable to those "not in the know". Or maybe you're cranky because your daughter is too tall/old or something. Who knows, but thanks for feeling the need to inform me that Lila has been on Broadway for years as if it changes any of my opinions on her above or makes it relevant to the casting info. Good luck. |

| Well I apologize for coming across as cranky as well. I was only complimenting the child. Really, all I said was what Nora Brennan said she specifically wanted for Matilda. That it reminded me of what I read about the Annie castings; what the articles had said about her "coming out of nowhere" and amazing them. I apologize if some people take that literally, and feel the need to correct me as if it is relevant. I'm sure most people understood what I was saying. And like I said in my 2nd post, informing me I'm wrong about her background doesn't change the casting info, the articles written or the opinions about her being very sweet and real. It's really not that big of a deal.
I probably do need to word things differently, but at the same time, I didn't say anything bad. How other people take things and respond is out of my control and I'm entitled to respond, just as you are.
Sorry that my comment about some kids coming across as arrogant, forced or "child actor-y" offends. Attributes like that aren't favorable for any young actor anywhere, so if it is taken as a put down, I would assume that is something that needs to be worked on from within. I'm not the only one with opinions like that regarding young actors. I was also not referring to anyone directly. Again, it is just what I read and what I associated it with when I read what Nora Brennan said she wanted for Matilda and the articles regarding the Annie casting.
Either way, I apologize for offending that guy with my misinformation regarding Lila's background and making him feel compelled to correct me, even if I feel it is irrelevant information. I apologize for making a snarky comment as a response. But I do feel I must have said something to trigger the pretty much snarky & irrelevant response regarding her background...I feel it came out of nowhere and is probably just a catty response because I wrote statistics that no longer match his daughter or something. But again, just my opinion.
Good luck to all of you auditioning, I'm sure it'll be fun and I'm sure whoever they pick will be amazing. The most important thing here should be that the auditions haven't been canceled...at least according to my connection at the studio where the open calls are taking place. That and the little tid-bits of what they said they are looking for, it doesn't hurt to know anything and everything you can, especially if they are looking for something specific...and Nora already seems to have narrowed down what she wants type wise. |
