Managers in NYC Login/Join

I am looking for some information and hope to get help here. My child is with an agency for print but she is really talented and we are looking for an agent or a manager since she doesn't get movie auditions from her agencies. Can someone recommend best managers in NYC? I know all the best agencies with legit divisions. Is it better to go with an agency or a manager??? I know some people prefer managers. Thanks!

There are tons of threads here on Managers and Agents and what may be the best fit for you. Use the find button and you will get all sorts of information. Before you go out searching, if you like your print agent, I would speak to them and see if they can suggest an agency/manager that would be a good fit or perhaps they may even have some sort of partnership w/a talent agency. Good Luck.

I was thinking of Buchwald and Abrams but I know it's hard to get representation with these agencies. Buchwald doesn't even list instructions on submissions. Did you try these agencies? Generation, FFT, Product to name a few

No, we didn't try any of these agencies yet. I was thinking may be manager will be better for her at this stage rather than the agency..

NYCGAl - she is not freelancing, she is with an agency. Is it better to freelance?

Most agencies will not let you freelance or do not want you to freelance. I only asked that question because your original post said agency and then you said agencies in the 2nd sentence. It was probably a typo on your part. We use a manager but I agree with all the posts above. Find out if your agent has a legit department. Try to do some student films. There aren't that many movies here in NYC and many times you submit by tape. Most kids start in commercial for on camera work. You can try to take a short course for on camera work at some place like Performing Option *I only recommend them because that's where I went. There are others and they get you in front of the agents and cds. Gl
