Help! How can I get a tutor for my dd when she gets booked for commercials? I don't want my dd to fall behind but it seems like they never want to get a tutor for her. I don't think it is right that they take these kids out of school all the time and not get them a tutor. Does anyone know about this?

I honestly don't know all the rules - I am sure that others are far more versed on this subject than I, but if it is for commercials - a one or two day shoot, I am under the impression that they will NOT get you a set tutor - that is only for longer productions. While it is frustrating because I am sure all parents understand the importance of education - it should be number one - this is a business and ultimately it is your responsibility to make sure your DD keeps up with her work. We personally have a tutor come to our house every Thursday afternoon. The tutor is in constant contact with my DDs teacher and knows if there is ever an issue. I know this isn't probably what you wanted, but and others can pipe in, but definitely be proactive for your child and if she is handling the workload and not falling behind, then count it as a part of a life-long experience and even an education of an other sort. Of course, though, each family needs to handle this - and probably views this - very differently.

In NY your child needs to be out of school THREE days before a tutor is required which doesn't happen in the commercial world. If she books a FF with a weekly contract you will see a set teacher day one. Left coast is another matter. There they require set teachers all the time.

Tanner1 you were very helpful! Thank you. I agree it is up to us to help our children. I do have a tutor as well so I guess I am on the right track. I was just wondering if I didn't know about anything else that would help. Thanks other dad, too.
