I joined AFTRA a while ago and as we all know they merged with SAG a couple of months ago. I have some stage experience, but no film or television and I know I'm restricted from doing non-union work due to union rules.
I wanted some advice or recommendations on how to get union jobs and experience with little experience. I know there's websites like LA Casting anything else? I'm open to any help or suggestions.
Join Actors Access as well as LA Casting.
Try to find student films that are under the SAG Ultra Low Budget Agreement, which allows them to use both union and non-union actors.
If you feel you're ready to compete with professional actors, I suggest attending casting workshops with casting directors or associates that you think would hire you on their shows or film projects.
If you're not sure if you're ready but don't want to start from scratch. You might consider taking a commercial acting class, a on-camera class, and a improv class. And it's in your best interest to find classes that are taught by casting directors or associates. And there are a handful of teachers that always look good on your resume. (Howard Fine, Carolyn Barry, Mike Pointer, Margie Haber, Lee Strasberg, etc...)
Getting an agent is easy if you can impress a casting director in their workshops and they decide to hire you.

I've already taken a couple of commercial workshops and on the hunt for student films. I'm also currently in the Meisner program at The Ruskin School. Will look for casting workshops.
