So I've decided to go into this acting thing full force. I've now signed up for showfax / Actor access, as well as backstage for the year, and i'm debating on whether or now i should sign up for LA castings. Do you think its necessary for me to sign up on LA castings to improve my chances of getting booked for gigs? or does backstage / actor's access suffice? should i save that money and use that for classes instead? (I'm actually enrolled in second city improv 2 already, but i'd like to take a commercials course or core acting course or auditions course) What would you recommend for a newbie like me? how can i start getting my feet wet and start acting? Thanks for your advice!

As a new actor, most of my auditions came from LA Casting. Actor's Access has higher quality stuff, but the competition is also stiffer. Also, if you are interested in getting a commercial agent, you will need to be on LA casting anyway. My advice is this: take a commercial class, sign up for LA Casting, and submit to commercial agents. Take scene study and audition classes once you're able to afford it. In the meantime, look into teaming up with the folks in your improv class and make your own shorts.

Backstage's Casting site sucks. LA Casting and Actors Access are a MUST! If you get a commercial agent, you'll have to join whether you like it or not.

Thanks for the advice. Which commercials class do you recommend? Hey I saw your commercial, Killain 's commercial workshop, or Judy Kain? Which one do you think will help me get at least some kind of gig to get in the door? Or are they all about the same? (i know judy kain's is the most expensive @ $435, killians is less pricy at $275, and hey i saw is the cheapest. But if judy kains is much better i'd rather dish out more money for it)

Killian is the best of the 3. But for someone new like you, the Level 1 class of Hey, I Saw Your Commercial! might be good for you.

Ah, so the foundation class for Killian is best then? I'm thinking of signing up for that instead of the the hey i saw our commercial. I figure it's better to just go for the best? Haha. I have like just enough budget for the killian foundation class right now i think. would you recommend me to do sign up for killian's foundation class?

Killian never had the Foundation class when I took it. Mike of Hey, I Saw Your Commercial covers the business side of acting

Hm... interesting. I'm guess it's probably not a good idea for me to jump into the full adult workshop since i don't have any background with on camera work? Would it work if i took the hey i saw your commercials level 1, then go take the adult workshop of killians? or should i stick with all killian's courses for commercial work? What would you say are the pros & cons of the two? Which one would probably help with me getting work sooner? Sorry i know this kinda deviated quite a bit from my original topic...=P
