Dd always has chapped lips in the winter but this week she smiled at a taped audition and was stopped because her lip started bleeing! We tried a lot of lip balms and lip medications, but before we go try a $20 tube of blistex that will last a few days, does anyone have any home remedies or products that work well for you/your child? Thanks!

When I was on acutanne in high school (which completely dries out your system. My lips were always dry and bleeding) Burts Beeswax was the only thing that worked for me. I had to apply it almost constantly... but it worked.

TY everyone, we will try those! Vaseline seems to work very nicely but the scent/flavor is not the best lol

I'm a big fan of vaseline when there's no chapstick around. Smiler

Remind her NOT to lick her lips. As tempting as it is, it only makes them worse.

In that vein; it might be wise to avoid "flavored/fruity scented" balms as she might find herself still licking them without realizing it.

Oh and no minty ones. The mint smells really nice, but mint is very drying.

I hope this helps.

Chapped lips means you are lacking vit e. Eat almonds soaked overnight. Peel them off and start your day with it

You are responding to a thread that was started in March 2011 and had activity back in October. The discussion is done.

Chapped lips can mostly be prevented through proper fluid consumption and a balanced diet. A chapstick gives you a good coating on the lips, but it only treats the symptoms. Not the cause.

My wife swears by "Bag Balm." I used to think she was crazy because it's something cowgirls (like her in her old days) use to keep moisture in leather, and on horses if their skin is starting to dry out but it works like crazy on lips. I had a huge problem with chapped lips and it's been working for me.

CVS has it sometimes, it's in a green aluminum tin with red flowers on it (usually on the bottom rack because it's pretty cheap). It's kind of hard to find sometimes but the CVS on North Hollywood way in Burbank has it.

Your lips only have thin surface layers of skin, so they are more likely than the rest of your face to dry out. You lose up to 10 times more moisture through your lips than your face or body. Some ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, sodium PCA, and glycerin is good and make your lips stay moist. For more information visit maxolip reviews.

A simple sugar scrub works wonders and you can do it almost anywhere anytime. Use oil(olive, grapeseed, etc) or lip balm as a base, mix it with a bit of table sugar, and rub your lips. Do this whenever you feel flaky or dried out. Works great.
