I sent in my headshots and resume for a film that seemed just perfect for me. I heard back from them today, saying they want to see me audition...please prepare a monologue, here are a few bits of script, etc.
However, I'm really upset because it's tomorrow already and while I technically could just take off of work, I'm trying to gauge whether or not it's worth it. It's a struggle right now!
The drive is long, and I feel like I really have had no notice. Previous auditions gave me a few days. I don't want to sound like a whiner because I realize that part of being an actress is to be ready and able at all times to deliver. I don't want to say no, I don't want to just not show up. I would really like to give this role, this audition, my all. But it's being inconvenient! Has anyone else been in this situation before? Any advice?

One day is reasonable and its pretty standard for TV. It doesn't sound like they are asking you to be off book on 15 pages of copy or anything. You should have a monologue or two always at the ready anyway. Go to the audition and be gracious for the call.

It is a student film/undergrad digital comedy short; the auditions are being held at Orange Coast College. I'm new to film, though. All my previous work has been stage and it would be a good opportunity for me. The material looks incredible.
I do have monologues. I'm not unprepared. I just have a day job. It's driving me bonkers because I read what they sent and...it feels right. I don't know how else to describe it.
If I were to be cast, it wouldn't be a problem since the filming is next week/weekend and I have a friend I can crash with in Long Beach. And, honestly, getting off of work tomorrow would be freaking fantastic.
Maybe I'm a little less indecisive than I think I am? Bllllaaaarrrrgggghhhh...

But to add to what truth said, you rarely get more than a day or two notice for TV auditions. I have gotten a bunch of auditions SAME DAY and even w/in 1 hours notice. Sometimes you just have to be ready to drop everything.
Try prepping a scene during an hour car-ride to an audition. Warning...much more dangerous than texting and driving.

Haha! When I was living in OC and commuting, I'd hold my sides to the steering wheel while I was on the freeway and read the lines out loud and monotone. By the time I got there, I was completely off book.

Lol...I can't even get a bit too into a song on the radio without terrifying those around me! I may need to recruit a chauffeur (aka: teh boyfriend) to take me on those auditions!
