Do you live in LA? I know a great acting class that would help you with your family issues. I have a fair few of them myself, we all have problems, just know that you're not alone, and there's always a way Smiler

Harsh doesn't even begin to cover it.

And I think it goes without saying he has had one of the best careers out there, if not the best!

I say look forward not backward. Use what you can, discard the rest. Easier said than done, of course...but steps in that direction always help.

Yes I think it's so sad. thanx for the example

I feel ya, OP. I've had my background questioned multiple times by ppl. I'm a well-spoken black man, so when I tell people I grew up in queens(born in CT though) they don't believe me.I don't sound ghetto. I have no NY accent. I grew up dirt poor too, but people are convinced I come from money. I realized that people project so much onto others..you know your history, don't explain yourself too much. No tortured explanations, just a simple "born here", grew up blah blah". That's it. To most ppl simple=truth, long-winded =lie. Keep it simple.

Edit: one time, I went in for "house", and was asked where I was from. I said I grew up in queens, born in Hartford. Turns out one of the casting ppl was also from Hartford. But the way they HEARD it was me trying to backtrack and say I was from both places in order to connect to this casting person. I could see from her expression that she thought I wasn't being honest, and I was. So, yes, always keep it simple.

Lotta stupid people in important positions in this industry..
