I sent in my information last week for an indie movie that's supposed to be filming in NY and NJ this summer. I'm in PA, so I figure that's close enough, especially for my hopefully first feature role.

So I check my email today. And I got a response from the casting people. HUZZA--wait... this email is two days old?! I swear by very important things that said email was NOT there the last two days. Anyway, I open the email, hoping that I could still make something of this. According to gmail, this email was received at 6:15pm on Sunday. And of course, the casting people asked if I could show up for an audition at like 5:30pm on Monday.

Which leads to two questions.

Is so little notice common? Like, less than 12 hours?

And any advice as to how I could possibly salvage this situation?

Update!

They emailed me back last night, and initially asked for today. That just wasn't possible, and to my surprise, they agreed to Thursday.

So that's a good sign, right? Of course, unknown to me, my father decided to -call- them twice to get the time bumped up, which they still agreed to.

And now I have like 20 odd hours to come up with something rrrreeeeaallly clever to say.

Short notice is the norm; just know that they probably know your name as the actor who rescheduled twice. Do your best at the audition and forget about it afterwards.

Just curious, how old are you that your dad is scheduling your appointments for you, and you say you're in PA, its a 6 1/2 drive, and does this have anything to do with a certain pilot with the word Matter in it? Sorry to be so nosey, but if you are involved in this project, they are very nice and won't get upset if you need to change times. Just saying...

I asked him if he'd help drive, he said yes. I also asked him to check for the confirmation email while I was at my dayjob. That's when he called them to change the time.

There was no
"I'm going to call them, okay?"
or
"I have a GREAT idea! How about you call them to change the time again? I want to make sure I start off in a pretty deep hole before I ever even get there."

There was a "I called them to get your time moved up. They didn't answer the first time so I called back."

Nah, it's not for that.

I did, but the atmosphere of the place was pretty close to the last thing I expected, which sort of negated most of the plans I had for what to do. They did take all the copies of my headshot/resume (if that even means anything) but I have no idea how the actual screentest itself went.

If this was the biggest horror from your very first audition, you're doing pretty good lol.

Heck I went to an audition thought I stank. I was told I was they had someone else. Next week was called and said they want me because the other person got fired because they where not prepared (I always keep my sides and practice after the audition for a few weeks). Nice extra cash from that. So yea short notices because they did ask me to show fast as I can.
