I am so confused. I have no idea which one to chose. Theo and Juliet I hear are fantastic but they also have a price tag to go along with it. Deidhra Fahey I can't find to much info on her. Any help or tips would be great. I am new to LA and really don't much about headshots. I have been classes since I moved and had no time for headshots. Any help would be awesome.

You ask an impossible question to answer. It's unclear why you've narrowed your search to these two studios...is there something about them that you particularly like vs. other photographers? There are a lot of great, and a lot of not-so-great, headshot photographers out there with price points all over the place. If you're new to acting, take some time and go through these forums; you'll find a lot of photographers who post here and whose pictures are posted here. You should also search the web and find headshot photographers whose online portfolios you like and who fit your budget. You can also meet with them beforehand and consult with them to find out if they're a good fit. Your going to hit it off with some photographers and feel out-of-sync with others. Some photographers will have styles that fit your taste and your style, and some won't.

Well you definitely need some headshots! My opinion is that Theo and Juliet is TOO EXPENSIVE. $1000 for headshots is just too much. There are amazing photographers that are much less. Spending more than $500 on headshots is dumb unless you just have tons of money to spend and dont care. Try to find someone 300-500. I also know some people who shot with Theo and J and the pics were not good.

You have narrowed it down to a very random selection that's for sure. Look around and for your first time don't spend $1,000!!

Well I have been looking for a month for headshots and everyone kept telling me Theo and Juliet is the place to go. But $1000 is too much right now and Deidhra came highly recommend from a friend and she's $295. The only thing is that my hair has to be semi ready for shooting day. What about Paul Smith?

Why don't you just go to modelmayhem? People will take your headshot for free. Just bring some pepper spray and a friend. =)

Don't do free headshots. They won't be good.

I think Deidrha Fahey is a good option and price. Paul Smith is also a big name and pretty expensive. You should pick someone who shoots well for your age group and type.

Yeah..look theo and juliet take great shots but they aren't worth $1000. There are people in this very thread that are known for being great photographers. I'd suggest looking around a bit more.

I wonder how well those guys know their target market. 90% of the actors in this town are out of work and those are the one's getting updated headshots. Then again someone is paying for it...

I ended up getting my headshots with Deidrah and I am very happy. She is amazing at hat she does and her price is even better. This week I am getting them retouched and printed. I do have a question though should I put a border on my headshots or no border. Of course I have to put my name. But is border a yay or nay?
THANKS Everyone!

Wow I'm surprised to find so many photographers bashing "worth" and "price" followed by "they are great but not worth it." Theo and Juliet's prices are based on the market and their ability to charge their worth as their studio filled up rather than rushing to accommodate the fee slowly went up over the years.

I won't argue price after all, we all know Theo & Juliet because of their work as Theo & Juliet.

Julia Roberts gets paid millions... but I'm sure there are countless Actresses that can do 'just as good' but at the end of the day it's not Julia Roberts but then again there's is always room for a newcomer and Julia can't play the roles she did 20 years ago and she most certainly won't work for the rate she did 20 years ago.

I will say Theo and Juliet vs Deidrah seems like odd comparisons as the style and quality seem to be quit different.

Deidrah seems like a better choice for a new Actor in LA. Her images won't hold you back at the start, maybe after some credits theatrical work the $1000 at Theo and Juliet will make more since.

Both do great work.

With Theo and Juliet, you're getting hair, makeup, image consultation, etc within that $995. Juliet is great at those things but if you know yourself well enough and a cheaper makeup artist who knows what she or he is doing, you can find another great photographer who charges way less.

I remember there used to be a notorious photographer who charged $1000 and would shoot everyone the SAME way (hunched over and in landscape), have this annoying bluish tint that the photo reproductions places can never really fix, and make you have his signature in the photo. I wonder what happened to him? I haven't seen people use him lately and nor people posting their sh1tty headshots with him on here these days.

He's still very much in business. Somebody posted some photos by him here for opinions last week.

Haha. I'm not talking about Peter Hurley. Though I'm not a fan of his either.
