It's been a while since I've posted in here, but you guys have always been super helpful so I thought I'd seek your opinions yet again! I just took new headshots and am having a hard time narrowing them down. I've got it down from 700 to about 10, but still need to get it to 3, ugh! I did three different looks and they are all labeled accordingly. My grey shirt is for commercial, green/turquoise tank top is for theatrical, and blue collared shirt is for hosting. I just need a set of fresh, unbiased eyes and opinions. I would love to hear your thoughts on the photos overall and what your favorites of each category is! The link is below, let me know if there are any problems viewing or opening the photos. Sorry the photos are not in order, for the life of me I could not figure out how to re-arrange them, but they are all numbered and labeled, so hopefully it isn't too confusing.
Just one last note, these have not been retouched yet, so of course any of the obvious stray hairs, and other corrections will be made. Looking forward to hearing from you all!
Thanks for the heads up marbar. I am so sorry about that. I uploaded my photos to flickr instead, so hopefully this one works. These photos are also in a more organized order now. Thanks!
I'm not a fan of these. They feel quite bland and sterile, and though you have a big bright smile, these come across as passport photos or similar.
Maybe it's the lighting combined with the plain background you're standing against, but I'm just not wowed. They're not awful, but I just don't know how they'll standup in a market like Los Angeles.
Having looked through 700 proofs seems like quite a lot, even for three looks. I would ask the photographer in the future how many photos you get after the session. It may seem counterintuitive, but quantity is not always a good thing. Personally, I think 150 proofs per look is on the extreme long end. If you can't get a smaller estimate, that might be indicative that the photographer is not confident in delivering quality shots, or doesn't understand the value of getting you the photos you need without undue hassle.
I like the last theatrical shots the best (blue/green shirt, tan background). Your personality comes across most clearly. Of those, Theatrical3 is my favorite. The ones with the darker blue shirt don't work at all for me -- they look vaguely corporate. The commercial shots are OK...I like them but don't love them. Commercial3 is my favorite among them, but wish your head was less cropped.
