So, I need some opinions on my reel. I have been trying to pull a new one together for some time now, and I am trying to make it really stand out.

I am in the process of making a huge CD mailing - with my new headshots, and I want to include a reel.

My manager has passed along some reels that he felt were amazing (and they are, and most actors are represented by the biggest in the business) and their reels go for about 3-4 minutes. (Actors included Michelle Page, Ashley C Williams, Clare Bowen and Erin Cahill).

What I am looking to show is a good amount of range, girl next door, younger age range and a little bit of a sexier girl.

Please let me know what you think. Keep in mind I am doing the editing - since I don't have hundreds to drop of a demo reel guy to through a shit ton of music in that has no place. I do not want any music or montages of any kind in my reel - I have enough footage as an actor to not include that stuff.

Hi DanielleSmiler. KUDOS for taking your career into your own hands, learning to edit, and all that jazz. The reel started strong with your first scene. For me, I immediately liked you and saw how to cast you; however, I got bored really quickly. You don't need almost a minute of that first movie. Unfortunately, the reason you pay an editor to do your reel is because it really is an art. No one watching your reel is going to say 'it's okay cuz she did the edit' becuz none of us are thinking that. On the flip side, I cast from reels ALOT and I would have called you in off of your first scene without needing all of the extra stuff (the scene with the camera around your neck is also adorable). Most casting directors in town will tell you not to confuse them. BE THE GIRL NEXT DOOR in this reel and sell the shit out of it (because you are an adorable girl next door and you should own it). I definitely feel your reel is too long and too all over the place, but it's a matter of opinion though and you have to put out what you are happy about. Smiler
