Hi all... This is a competitive business. So I've always wondered if you belong to an agency that has a social media forum, where you ask chit chat about upcoming auditions,do you share upcoming auditions with other agency members? Or do you keep mum until its over? Is that hard to do, especially when you've become great friends with the other mothers/fathers? Does it stress your relationships?

I know Ive gotten flack for breathing the name of a company that happens to be casting that week, even though I didn't mention there was an audition.

This is just something I've always wondered. Anyway, penny for your thoughts.

Phew, I think the lack of response might tell you a lot about how quiet people will be!

I have a couple of friendships with other moms. I do privately discuss upcoming auditions with these moms; but I also know that they aren't the type to crash a casting.. and we have children of similar ages and often are cast for the same jobs anyway. It is competitive but I cheer for my friends kids and they do the same for us!

But I'm sure there are people who don't share this point of view.

Thanks for replying. I guess I know the answer to that one.

I've seen posters boast about their friendships with other moms in their agency, but always wondered if they were that fiendly.

I have lots of friends in the same agency and some with other agents. We will sometimes talk about upcoming auditions but I would never go to an audition with my DS if we were not asked and the same goes for my friends. I think its awesome when they book!!!! To answer your other question, I think all of the agencies have FB pages but auditions are not discussed until after the fact.

In LA I only know of Zuri that has an FB page for their kids. LA Models also does but it's more for their adult div. and they only post tearsheets and the like, nothing about the casting process.
I am very friendly with the other moms from agency when I see them, mostly with the kids/moms we've worked with or see often. We share a bit of information. My dd can't help feeling a little bummed because she doesn't work as much as some others, so I try to keep it light...(also if the other kid is not working or auditioning much)... but these kids are of a different breakdown and older for the most part so she/we mostly feel glad for them. I don't usually mention forthcoming auditions, just past ones, and wouldn't mention a casting if I knew or suspected the other child was not there.

Thanks guys! I figured as much bc although some places say closed casting, the whole world shows up. However for a few other higher profile auditions, they are somewhat kept a secret.

I think for the most part all of us (in general) are happy for other kids that get jobs. Moms are happy when my kids get jobs. It's not us doing the chosing so honestly you have to get a grip on what this business is about. You have a shot and if you get it great and if not move on. No jealousy here and I don't know one parent who would crash an audition = just not right in my book.
