adoptamama13Ford NY
But what if you don't want to sign with Willi? They gave me that option today , but a lot of people are saying their tv management side is awful. So upset about this. We loved ford.

MaddiestravelagentI'd wait a bit. I have a feeling Megan will land with another agency and the only thing that will change will be the name of the agency on the checks...lol

New2bizMomof2Do you have to sign with Wilhelmina across the board? Or if you already have someone for tv can you just sign with them for print?

QueensMama2112This is sad news. It was a pleasure working with the NYC division. Have other parents gone out to start looking for new representation already .... and/ or is everyone waiting to hear more details from FORD as the weeks go on?

MaddiestravelagentWe've been approached by Willi and CESD but I think we're going to wait a little while before deciding. We'd like to see where Megan and Michelle wind up.

eh2011It’s ok! We will be ok. It’s a sad news for the talent area but things are changing in this Biz.
We have 3 agencies waiting for our answers and many friends offering us their agencies ( thanks) But we have not made any choices yet still too soon.
We are happy to be forever part of "FORD Model Children Division, NY." No one can take that away from us.
Good luck to all our friends in the talent.

cap99Oh no! Being a Ford mom and new to the biz I am at a loss of what to do. Ford moms...please post more info as you receive it.

MaddiestravelagentCESD approached us via email as did Willi. Maddie has a couple of regular clients and they reached out to agencies (it seems) to make sure they knew where she could be booked from. I'm still waiting to see where Megan goes before we sign with a new agency.

LI MomWow, this is shocking and upsetting news. We really liked working with Meghan and Michelle. We haven't received a call yet.

adoptamama13I'm just so upset about it all. I met with Willi kids before signing with ford. They were awful. A bottomless pit of kids with little concept of what parents look for these days. Rude. I was not impressed. We were offered a contract which said they were our talent manager, no questions asked. Megan can't possibly take all her kids there, that's insane. We will likely get lost in that shuffle. Fml

adoptamama13Anybody going to product or gen?

gjjO.k so I just got of the phone with Ford. The agents just found out too. I actually feel sorry for them. If anyone has questions or complaints I would suggest talking to Paulette. (sp) she is the president. I think Michelle and Meghan should have been given some more notice. This was so unprofessional on Ford's part.

BrandondadAs a veteran parent, with experience with all of the agencies involved, here is my advice. If you have a child with many bookings who will be bringing clients along, you are calling the shots. I would not wait for Ford to place your child. For one thing, other parents are probably already submitting to other agencies and they may not have room for your child's type. Assuming that everyone will jump to sign Ford's kids is ignorant. Every agency has beautiful kids and many clients.
Here's what I would do: Contact all agencies that you are interested in right away. Pros and Cons
Willy: Strong print, weak on-camera, insist on full management contract, costing you an additional 15% for all on-camera work, wqhat little you will get from them. Not my first choice.
FFT: Strong print, no on-camera to speak of. Will allow you to sign with other agencies for commercial/tv/film/Broadway. Excellent and experienced staff.
Gen: Strong print, very strong legit, so-so commercial. If they offered my kid across the board, I'd jump at it. Very experienced a well-regarded staff.
Product: so-so print, weak on-camera. I would take the chance on print but not on on-camera.
Abrams: commercial print (very little fashion). Tops in NY for commercial, very high up for legit. Benefit of LA office should you ever need it.
CESD: Print unknown. They used to be a big player, but lots of changes. I would meet with them and see. Strong commercial and legit, but big roster. Has a good LA office.
Other commercial print and on-camera:
FBI: will get some print, mostly on-camera. very good
Buchwald: all on-camera, excellent
Jordan Gill: on-camera, need a good resume
Innovative: Some commercial print. Excellent commercial and legit.
I hope this helps. I really would get on this right away. 200 kids trying to move is going to leave some of you out.

mykidsstylistI agree with Brandondad. To think that Ford will take care of you is a bit ignorant. I would start meeting with agents asap. I dont care how cute your kid is they are going to compete with other kids in other agencies. Some kids have already built a name for themselves with clients and their agencies. They are the go to kid, top talent, replacement... whatever you want to call them. Our agency was interested in my kid but the assistant told me later that if I was a stage mom or a nightmare mom they wouldn't of signed my kid. They say that top management always looks at they way the moms come in and present their kids. To think becuase your kids were with Ford that they will be picked up or taken care of is a bit ridiculous. They dont know your kids attitude, and work ethics. Unless your kids are superstars and have been on every magazine, ad, and have tons of clients (clout) you are not in a good place. Some of us have been luck to have signed witht he best agency but some of us have tried, and tried until we got an agent. Some agents see that something special in your child while others have passed...
Be prepared and start LOOKING!
