My daughter has been getting auditions, call backs and castings from being on LA Casting, but we are realizing we need to look into getting her representation. Can you all please advise on quality agents in the LA/OC area for kids print and commercial. Thanks!

Hi there,
I'm new to the biz for my 1 year old, thank you all so much for your posts! Has anyone signed up wth 2 agencie? Paloma told me they were full right now but Zuri said they're super slow for us but would get the process started. I would rather get started but want to make sure I keep our option open. Thoughts?
thanks!

Can someone tell me why agents say they dont send out for print jobs. They dont do go sees because the pay is very small. Is that true... my children have not gone to a go see but go out for commercials. I am frustrated because my niece goes out a lot all of a sudden and my daughter is the same age now...Is it best to get a print agency? and not be represented across the board??? A smaller agency better than a big one?

Paloma is great for print and commercial and theatrical.

Print generally doesn't pay a lot but some print does. Typical fashion print pays 100-150 per hour.

Ford should be on that list for top print.
Different agencies may focus on different things. The better theatrical agencies don't focus as much on print, perhaps, and the strong prin may not focus on theatrical. They are just not strong in one dept and maybe choose to be that way. Yes, print doesn't pay as much in general but I know regular working print kids who don't want to do commercials or theatrical and I'm sure there are kids/parents that choose not to go out for print work. Again print doesn't pay as much but it's fun (especially if you child loves fashion)and easy, my dd loves it, and if you are lucky you can work for a client regularly. Some pay the 120-150/hr with a 2 or 3 hour miniumum. Some pay 500-1000 a day. On the low end it's 250/day but that may be the catalog jobs that may use you 4 times a year or more.
Savage does not have a print dept.
If you read this board, older threads on this subject, you'll find opinions about the strengths and weaknesses of some of the agencies on your list. good luck!

Mykids, if your agency does not rep for print you need to find an agency to rep her for print only.
If your agency does not have a print dept they shouldn't have a problem with this.

Can I add that I see the same agencies at all of the popular print jobs. Ford, CESD, Osbrink, Zuri, paloma. I'm talking big retailers like gap, target, tcp, etc.

We do not do boutique modeling, which I'm guessing would pay a less or nothing. We belong to an agency listed above. IMHO,print is all the same. Go with your gut.

HI Selena,
They do have a print dept but I havent been sent out. It seems that most of the print jobs go to PMT, Zuri, and Ford. It doenst go to anyone else. The other two... No. I am with one of the other two and we dont get sent out. I just took my DC with my niece (Babysat her for a day) and they asked my DC to audition. I said "I couldn't because she wasnt repped with PMT" They said it was ok, just to sign her in. I didnt... This casting was about Bella and not my baby. But I was thinking why didnt my big player agent not sent her to this? Maybe I should change my BIG time agency and go with a print agent. Do BIG agencies frown upon this? My baby is repped across the board, and I would hate to be cut...sigh. The bottom line is I want to make them some money for college, any way I can.

if you have a contract with them, review. I don't know why they don't send you out. Sometimes with a casting call only certain agencies are asked to submit. Each agency gets to send out a certain amount of kids and maybe your dc doesn't always make the cut for whatever reason, maybe she gets submitted but not requested for whatever reason. Maybe the client looks through the agency roster and picks who they want to come in. Recently I asked agency why dd did not go to a major casting and agency said they submitted her. Ouch. That hurt, but we've moved on...She was repped across the board with this agency but since they only booked her print work they had to be fine with her moving somewhere else for comm/tv/film, and staying with them for print. We've been with them for a couple years and already had a good relationship. I know a kid who is with one of these agencies for comm/tv/film and another one of these agencies for print. I don't know how they got that arrangement. You can ask about it for your dc but everyone is different. Think about where your focus is.
Next time you are in that situation with niece and dc, and casting asks dc to audition, then you should audition. imho. You are not taking anything away from niece.
