Can anyone say what the warner loughlin technique is? Was going to audit over there as I want a scene study class where I dont have to do outside rehearsal relying on a partner.

I know people who rave about there improv classes, cold reading classes or on camera auditioning classes but I cant find someone who ever really loves there scene study classes. I dont want Meisner or Method so I am very interested in Loughlin

Don't know her but from reading the stuff on her website sounds like she's pretty method (strasberg) inspired from her own past studying with Strasberg and Kahn, and based on her Emotion with Detail-thing....but I might be wrong.

If you don't want Meisner or Method (believe you refer to Method as Strasberg???) then go to Lesly Kahn, The Acting Center or Doug Warhit or wait for Stephen Book to open a new class (I believe that will be in 2014!!! - he just started a new group and one can't join until new groups open up)

Or Josh Pais in New York - he teaches in LA once in awhile

Don't know, but I know CD Sara Isaacson recommended going there.

Could also try The Imagined Life....no partner rehearsals there, but you have to commit for 6 months (work excuses are allowed).

I never studied with Warner. I was thinking about it because I know some very good actors that have. They say great things. I think Funfilmchick said she studied there if she is still around.

What I have gathered is that the technique is like method without all the method baggage. It is a way to cut to the chase and go straight to the sensual feelings of emotions without driving yourself crazy with affective memory. People say it is great because it gives you the ability to consistently go take after take on charged scenes without traumatizing yourself and making yourself a hot mess to work with like method actors have been known to do.

From what I understand is that Warner Loughlin and Diana Castle are very similar in technique. Stum, did you study with Castle?

Funfilmchick studied with Warner. I found that out after AG_Man posted that annoying post.

Warner's website caught my eye because of the testamonials. The whole "emotion with a detail" reminds me of finding a "release object" or "emotional trigger". I've been tempted to try her class but would hate to be over half a grand in the hole just to find out the tempting website overset my expectations...
