I was listening to a clip from art of seduction where it talked about the natural. The was a part of the natural they called the "Wonder " they said something about if you were and artist you would focus on mastering it to the point where you would " eliminate all traces of technique" I was wondering if anyone. Who understands what It means could clarify for me "eliminate all traces of technique" how would and actor / artist go about doing that?
For me, it's getting your many hours of practice in to the point where a technique becomes second nature and you're no longer thinking about it. Like driving. When you first started, you were thinking about all the technical things. Now you hardly don't. It's just natural to you now.
With any art, there is the left brain where it's all about getting everything technically right for there are technical right/wrong parts in an art. Then it's being comfortable with the technical stuff to the point where you can just let go and let the right brain kick in and create art.
In acting, you learn various techniques to help get you present be it Meisner exercises, imagination, Strasberg, or improv, etc. Then there's memorizing lines.
When it comes time to play, you can't think about these things or it will hinder you and make it look like you're acting. You just have to let everything go, trust your instincts, listen, and react.
