Ok, we all know about AAA... but, My new manager is referring me to them and is telling me I'm practically getting signed. What I'm concerned about is being shelved once I got there. I'm a fairly new kid...my resume isn't that impressive and as a new actor, I'm always told to stay away from Power Agencies because they wont focus on me, because they have A-List clients to look after. Is Abrams the type to do that? I love my current agency and I audition a lot. I would hate for it to stop. DM

First of all, let's get real. Abrams is an excellent agency but I would hardly call them a "Power Agency". Second, you love your current agency and you audition a lot, right? So why the hell would you want to leave?

If you are happy with your current agency and you are getting many appointments, why the heck would you leave? I have many friends, with impressive credits who are with smaller agencies then mine and are out all the time. Hell some getting direct offers. They could very well be with bigger boutique agencies or even with some of the "power agencies". They know this without a doubt. But they know better, their agent is doing above and beyond their job. Their agents believe in them and they have a special bond. If this is what you have and you're willing to throw that all away just to be with Abrams, you're a fool. Especially since you have no legit credits and you're out a lot. What more could you ask for? There is a time in an actor's career to move up to the big boys or just a bigger agency. From what you have described, it is not that time. I'm curious as to why you even are taking meetings with other agencies if you're happy. It would help to know who you're current agent is but unless it's some starter agency, I see no reason for leaving.

Yeah.. I agree with all you guys!! I was fairly shocked when my manager told me Abrams may be looking at me for their youth division. I have not met with Abrams, he just told me what "could" happen, that's all. I just keep thinking, it may put me in a better position, maybe I'll go out more!...then again, what if I start going out less?.. I see at least one Abrams boy when I go out for auditions, so I know they go out. My mind's racing... but for the most part, you're all speaking the gospel ^.^

Hey, if it was Gersh I would say go. However, Abrams has a pretty full youth division in NYC and my kid sees at least 5 or 6 Abrams kids signed in for small parts or commercials. Stay where you are until the bigger boys come calling.

Well then what is a lot of auditions to you? If you audition a lot now then it would just be a lateral move. And are you practically signed or was it just a thought by your manager? I think you should respectfully decline unless he has a plan to move you up to an even bigger agency later? ---- just another actor..

I'm curious to know what "audition a lot" means to AliveMau5. 3 times a week? I kind of remember Michael Kostroff saying something like that is an ideal goal. Are you acting full time? Are you close? Sometimes it takes so little to satisfy us actors. We have to take our victories where we can get them. And we all know our careers can rise and drop like mercury. Why does your manager feel this is a good move? Has his judgement been on point in the past? Even SAM has said that actors need to be always looking to move up the food chain. I wouldn't toss a potential opportunity all willy-nilly.
