Hi y'all. I did a blind submission to Daniel Hoff about a month ago, and they invited me to their cattle call last Friday. Today, I got a callback to come in tomorrow. Has anyone else around here had a callback with them? I'd love to hear about your experience. They gave me a list of things to remember when I came in (i.e. have fun, don't wear lip gloss, come hair and makeup ready, etc.), and I was wondering if this is something they generally tell everyone, or if this was just for me. (I got the callback via voicemail, otherwise I would have clarified on the phone.) The reason I ask is because I wasn't wearing lip gloss at the last one, and I came hair and makeup ready. It got me wondering if I wasn't as polished looking as I thought I was. lol. Any thoughts?

P.S. Coast to Coast is still in the mix too, which is making me extra jittery. How do I tactfully tell Hoff that I might need a few days to get some things figured out (should they offer me rep, that is)?

Just wondering what is so special about you that you get agency meetings through mailings; you already have theatrical representation; now you got a call back w/ Hoff, and have gotten meetings w/ respected agencies? Are you a beautiful model looking person? Do you already come with tons of credits and experience? Do you have some sort of look that is not common, but in need? I'm just purely curious. Please do not take this as some type of hostile post.

Ha! AlexJ -- I was wondering the same thing. Mae, can we hire you to write cover letters for us?

Usually agencies give you a few days to look over the contract they give you. It's not very standard at all to sign the contract in the office (in my experience).
Realistically an agent is only going to wait 3 business days to a week to hear back from you. Coast to Coast is probably the better agency of the two, but Hoff is pretty solid!
I wish I could answer your original question, but I don't have any experience with Daniel Hoff, or wearing lip gloss and makeup in meetings with agents.

Not to take anything from Mae, but getting meetings in this town isn't nearly as difficult as most actors think. It requires persistence, great pictures, commercially (improv and a good commercial class), other theatrical training, and enough credits to get a decent reel. Just to show you've been on set.
Sounds easy, right? How many people who aren't getting meetings meet all the above criteria? I guarantee you Mae does.

OP: How did it go? Do you mind sharing details of the process? Also, did you sign or did you get a hold of Coast etc?
Lucky: I agree with you. A very basic expression of interest is fine; more important you need the above materials and a solid in person meeting.

Oh man, it's complicated right now with everything. Just talked to Coast to Coast today again. It's gonna be right down to the wire...and I'll most likely know whether I have a new commercial agent by next Friday. I'll keep you guys posted...

oh shoot. I didn't answer the quesiton. The callback was exactly the same as the initial audition. You go in, get copy at the front desk, sign in, and then they tape you in a small office. The assistant, I believe, is the one running the camera. You don't see the agents.
Hope this helps.
Oh, one more thing. They posted a sign on the door while I was there that said that today was the last open call they are doing until after the new year (I was there at the same time as the cattle call).
