You would get a lot more help if we could understand what you are asking!

Not sure if this will answer your questions, but it's best not to think your child will follow the same path as other young actors. Each actor's journey is their own. And being "scouted" can sometimes be misinterpreted, so I wouldn't count on that. Each family of a child actor has to adjust to changes, commitments and sacrifices that are not always easy. Many times, one parent may have to quit their job so they can travel with their child. Some are lucky and can take their jobs with them. Each family has to do what is best for them. Not everyone can move to NY or to LA as they would like. Some split up the family to make it work. There are so many variables, it's hard to say, "Okay she did it this way, so that is what we should do." You have to weigh all your options and even then, you are taking a risk. But, that is what a lot of working in this business is about. Taking risks. I just feel sorry for the ones that don't learn all they can first and end up spending well beyond their means by making unfortunate choices.

If moving is something that can work out, then by all means, it's worth a try. I know more than one family who took a chance and moved to LA just to try it out, had success and never moved back. Then there are the other families who were not quite as lucky.

As far as CESD, they are a well-respected reputable agency and do have offices on both coasts. It would be best to discuss working on either coast with them.

Hope this helped a little and sorry if I rambled.

I'd like to add my usual dose of reality...I find it's best to approach this biz with no expectations. Just take each day as it comes and be grateful even for each audition. If you are lucky enough to get call backs and holds, that is an accomplishment. And even more amazing are the bookings. For the most part, overnight success is a myth. Very few kids are overnight successes. Even when you do hear those fairy tale stories about young actors, most often they have been auditioning and doing the commercial grind for years before landing that "big" role. Even Miley Cyrus auditioned for many years. Most kids audition over and over and rarely make enough $$$ to cover expenses. The kids who land the big stuff are the exceptions. When it comes to commercials, it takes a lot of luck and talent to land even one. Landing even one small TV or movie role is amazing. Most kids never land a starring role in a mainstream hollywood movie or TV series.

To answer the question, if you sign with a bicoastal agency and you live in NY, will they find stuff for you in LA so you can then move out there...well, it's not really as simple as that. First, you have to get signed, then you have to prove yourself. Still, you will not likely be submitted for most TV roles in LA as most of the costarring and guest starring roles go to local kids as they are local roles (no per diems, no transportation, no accommodations are covered for these roles.)

If you are going in to this with the vision of becoming an overnight success, you might be sorely disappointed. Take it one step at a time. Try to find a rep, audition, do student films, take classes, do showcases, get yourself out there...see what happens. And one more thing, once you do land that big role, it's not as glamorous as it appears. It's very hard work! Finally, go for it and HAVE FUN!

I'm happy to give advice based on our experience but I don't discuss our representation, auditions or jobs on public boards. Good luck to you in your search.

When it comes to searching for representations, don't put all of your eggs in one basket. I would suggest sending to more than one agent. There are a number of good agencies out there and you never know which will be the right fit for you unless you check them all out.

And might I suggest cleaning up the grammar in your posts. It will be easier to understand you and you will be taken more seriously if you follow grammar and punctuation rules.

Just wanted to add a little something since I have some personal experience with CESD.

1. All the girls you mentioned worked in their HOME towns first. They were not "scouted", although that is a term that the Disney publicity machine likes to use. Welcome to Hollywood--the publicists still like to portray that people are "discovered", but 99% of the time, the kid has been working for 5 years or more before they were "discovered". some discovery! LOL

2. CESD is a very large agency. Over 1000 kids in LA alone. And like every large agency, they have their supporters and their detractors.

Yes, they have a few series regulars. So do lots of other agencies in LA. CESD also has several hundred newbies who aren't getting enough auditions, and are "shelved". It is not uncommon for kids to leave them...we joke that there is a whole "club" of almost all the working kids in LA who have been at CESD and left for various ugly reasons. So CESD's reputation isn't completely positive, in LA anyway. Why the mixed messages? Because finding an agency is like finding a husband. You really have to find the right match...and what is right for me, or for Miley Cyrus, probably isn't right for you.

3. It is VERY rare that a newbie without a manager can surive at CESD LA. Why? Size. They don't even know all their clients. If you are new, you really need a manager to watch out for your best interests and keep you in the agent's eye. CESD tends to have a dozen or more of each age range/type (ie. 8-10 year old girls) and most of those have BIG resumes. So if you have a 9 yr. old girl, you are going to be 13th on the list. Not a good thing.
Another reason: CESD has been known to bring lots of newbie kids from out of town. So you might get signed with them, but that doesn't mean you are getting auditions/jobs when you get here.

My bottom line advice: Bloom where you are planted. Try and work the small market closest to your home. That way you will have a good foundation and a resume. When you have exhausted the possibilities there, send headshots and resumes to LOTS of agents in LA or NY. Try to get appointments with small agencies, big agencies, managers...lots of different business models. That way you can choose the one that is right for your child.
