Hi all...

I was just wondering something as we haven't had too many NYC audition experiences. I know that Lion King is holding replacement auditions this week and I was wondering something. My daughter is not equity but is BEGGING to go.

I know that they see non equity if there is time, but HOW EARLY would you suggest getting to the call that starts at 10 to give us a good shot of getting in before the end of the day? I'm even thinking before lunch would be nice. Would 8 be okay?

Also, since this call is for children AND adults, do they seperate them at all and take kids and adults at different times? I mean, do you think that we would have to wait in the same line as non equity adults?

My only regret is that there wouldn't be another adult with us to wait with my daughter at the hotel and I can wait in line for hours, lol...

Anyhow, any advice/info would be fantastic! THANKS!

Here's one more thread on a previous Lion King audition.

You can check for a previous thread on Lion King auditions. There are mixed responses. My daughter went to one that was held in Harlem. It was the coldest day I have ever experienced in New York. We waited outside for hours. We knew the whole thing was a long-shot since she is neither ethnic nor African American. We later talked to a friend who is good friends with the casting director and he basically said a 'white kid' would never get the role. It's always good to do the auditions if you can. Getting in front of casting directors and going through the audition process is great experience. But then again, maybe your child is ethnic or AfAm? : )

Does anyone know if there are going to be agents appts. for this? I don't even know if they would even consider seeing a light skin hispanic for the part.

I would like to mention that the 6 month required auditions do sometimes lead to replacement casting right away, sometimes without the current cast even knowing someone is being replaced. We've been in this position, even when casting told everyone in the room at an open call that they were not hiring that day. By then end of the day, they offered someone a job. I just wanted to point this out because there are times that you just never really know when casting is looking for a replacement. So, when the opportunity presents itself, it's really a good idea to audition whenever possible. You could be hired within a day to a year later.

You also never know if they might remember your kid for something they're casting at a later date.
