Thank you for all the great info!!!! Just found out how serious my daughter is when we went on an "ITS audition". She got a 'call back'. I have researched all the possible corporate names associated with this audition and have found them listed as BBB members and in good standing. Still wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this audition process and are the workshops and convention worth the money. Thanks.

This would be a good topic to start as a new thread. You will probably get more responses.
But while I'm here, I will give you my personal opinion about ALL conventions in general. If money is not an issue (money to burn) and you expect nothing in return from attending except the experience, then it's an interesting (but overpriced) way to spend some time. You might get lucky 1/1,000,000 and have a legit agent call your child in, but as for the classes, I would research those further and be sure that the people teaching them are reputable, well known and respected teachers that are recommended by the industry (not just the convention staff) and that the cost of the classes is the same as if you found them on your own. It is truly a personal choice. I don't have that kind of money to burn but if I did, I would rather spend it on various forms of training or sending my child to a camp like Stagedoor Manor, or Interlochen, which is an educational and worthwhile experience and would also be highly respected on a resume. Just my opinion!

Thank you. It seemed like a lot of money to me too. I researched the names of this company on the web sites listed in the 1st thread. They are not listed in any of the agent or manager recommended web sites. I just can't find out enough about them online. Decided not to participate and go through local channels first. We are in Central PA. We do have some community theatre happenings, but workshops and the like are hard to find. I will look into the ones you mentioned. Thanks again for the info. It's a great help!

Thank you Mominbiz. I actually saw this thread when I was searching out the company, but it was your 1st thread of this topic that really convinced me not to go that way. There is not a lot out in Central, PA as far as workshops like this company offered. (At least as far as I am aware.) It was very tempting, even though a lot of money, because it was close to home.
I am interested to hear from someone who has gone through these workshops and convention. I saw at least 40-50 people who were signing up during the brief time I was there. I imagine there has to quite a few people and/or kids w/parents that have gone through this. (I'll check out the other post too.)
Thanks again, Mominbiz.

bump (for this invaluable beginner's guide)and a casting site question...nycastings.com (with an "s") is one of the good casting sites, right? i want to triple check before i give over my credit card #... thanks!!!

cc - yes, nycastings with an "s" is legit, but nycasting without an "s" is also legit. It's up to you to choose. I use the LA version of nycasting (part of Casting Networks) because I work in the LA area, but I know that nycastings has been around longer and helping NY actors for years with much success. DianeNYC should have some good input on this, also.
Good luck!

Hello GODZchild! A bump is a term used to bring a thread back to the beginning of the forum. So, if we don't have anything else to add to the thread, we just say Bump!
