Thank you. We'd been told a couple of conflicting things. (1) the union is a foot in the door to the better parts and (2) we needed to wait until we got a couple of principal parts or we'd be typecast once joining the union. But thanks for pointingout the over 18 thing. There seems to be a lot more work for the over 18 than the 16-17 year olds.

The 18 year olds play younger, they can work longer (overtime) and there doesn't have to be a teacher on the set. 18 does have its advantages :-)

Very true. Look at the kids on The OC.

It goes beyond the OC. Look at That's So Raven, the Suite Life, Phil of the Future, Malcolm in the Middle. Many of the stars are over 18, yet they place high schoolers. They can't play high schoolers for too much longer, so there has got to be room for new 18s to play younger!

As was mentioned in this thread, sag.org is a place to look for franchised agents.

Sorry, it didn't go through. Try this and if it opens, enter your state and click on search.

Hi there & thanks for the GREAT amount of info and the time you took to write it! I am new here and my son, Joshua, is pretty new to the industry. He is 4 and quite talented and quite a looker, but thankfully has the humble personality to go along with it. Today is 1st day on this site, so forgive my ignorance, but the names "Denzel Washington", etc., below the names in bold, am I being naive??? We had to move to Vegas from Orlando for my husband's job, and Joshua was just starting to get to auditions, etc., so it's so hard to know who to trust. He is with True Talent here, and just wanted to know if someone could point me in the right direction. Thank you!
