What's the futhest you think is worth your time driving. Do you think mailing in things works?
Hello and you're welcome! Glad you like the info. Yes, use your cell phone number. As far as being out of state, you can always submit and/or mail things in from anywhere and yes, it does work, but you must be prepared to attend the auditions if you are called in. I know a few families in MI that "do the drive" to Detroit, Chicago and NY. Sometimes, they fly when possible. I also know families that spend the summer in NY or LA, taking classes and auditioning. The amount of time and money involved is different for each family and it's not always an easy venture. Not everyone is able to do as much as they would like. How far you are willing to drive/travel is up to you. For some, there are no limits and for others, they take it one project at a time and do what they can when they are able. Each family has to decide what will work best for them. In the mean time, do as much as you can in your area that is not a scam/over priced conventions. Check out the Michigan Film Commission for films to audition for or participate in. Take classes when possible. The Second City in Detroit offers youth improv classes in the summer. Improv training is excellent experience for any acting venue, whether in theatre, film, TV or commercial work. The people at Second City might also be able to recommend other types of reputable acting classes for your DD. Good luck!

b) really really really want nothing more than to be in this biz. I say that because of the amount of money it is, and the risks involved
c) want to see how crazy and chaotic this biz is.
The thing about the whole even is, its fun for the kids, and the parents have a great, but exhausting time. It is very expensive, so if your kid has ANY other interests other than peforming, don't go. Take care
Since this is a thread I started, I will say that I discourage anyone from wasting their hard earned money on iPOP, especially, since it's another name that JRP is using. They have to keep creating new names to lure unsuspecting people in. Yes, it's a legit tuition-based corporation, but plain an simple, you can get more reputable classes for far less money. http://bbs.backstage.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/9611031/m/9...=941105001#941105001 * * * * * * * * * * Adding... Avidactor, I know you mean well, but this is not what this thread is all about. My purpose in helping others get started, is to help them do it as economically as possible, with training that is respected and worth listing on an actor's resume. Unfortunately, most agents actually request that it be taken off of their client's resumes, as told to me directly by more than one LA A-list agent.

Hey there Constance! Nice to hear from you and I'm so happy to hear I've been of some help. I, too, hope we meet. Thanks so much for the Nick contracts link and also for your update. All the best,
