I'm trying to decide between summer camp at the performing option in august or camp broadway. I've read lots of good things about both on backstage. My dd has already done some classes and workshops through the performing option. I know the camp is good for both training and exposure. Not sure about the performing option but according to camp broadway website there is still availability for there august session. Any thoughts from anyone who has tried both? dd is premarily interested in singing....

Weve done about 3 workshops at performance option and know kids going to the camp this month. Its fantastic for exposure and not so bad for training as well being that the teachers are always top agents or casting directors.

If your DD's goal is singing and Broadway then I would go with the camp that specializes in that.
The Performing Option is more about exposure and a well rounded curriculum of commercial acting, film, Improv etc.
If your goal is to do Musical theater AND you also need representation, then I would take the Musical theater class at The Performing Option that is taught by Jay Binder and Bernard Telsey casting directors and ends in a showcase. That is all about singing and auditioning for Broadway and it ends with the agent showcase. That class starts soon because we have a friend taking it.

But again, if your DD loves to sing and loves Musical Theater and it is a camp experience you are looking for then go with camp Broadway. I've heard good things about them.
Last I heard, the June camp at The Performing Option was sold out but they have a session in July also.

I have tried doing a search, but can't find
The Performing Option

Does anyone have a website or phone contact for that program?

Thanks!

My 8 year old daughter and myself are coming to New York this Friday to take Madelyn Burns week camp. Are there any other's coming from out of town? We're staying in Chelsea and it would be fun to get together with others that may be coming from out of town.

The Performing Option is Madelyn Burns . Call her and ask what classes are offered this month. She is nice and patient and will answer all of you questions.

Thanks everyone. We've done the musical theatre class at performing option a while ago. That was one of our first classes. I feel like if I took one why take another - aren't they all the same. Maybe I'm wrong..... Exposure is always a good thing since we are looking for representation as well. Does anyone happen to know when the august class is? I also see Cari Cole has vocal workshops. Any feedback on them much appreciated.

Diane Hardin does a vocal workshop once and a while with Bob Marks. My DD LOVES Diane Hardin. However, I am not a huge fan of B. marks.
