My DD just did her first paid voice over and I'm not sure how to put it on her resume. Does V.O. get it's own section? Or, do I list it under Commercial? It was for an educational video game that will be available on-line.

VO work can be included in other categories on your resume such as "Feature Film," "Animated Series," "Television," "Commercial/Voiceovers," "Industrials," etc. The project you've described could go in the "Industrial" category, although other posters may have suggestions for an appropriate category.

The typical 3 column format would apply, but add "voice" in parens next to the character name:

Name of project
Character (Voice)
Producer/Director

FEATURE FILMS
Toy Story Woody (voice) Pixar/Disney/John Lasseter

Thanks Kipmil! So . . . If she did three different animated images that will "speak" when user mouses over them -- like a notebook, a rock in jungle and a shovel -- do I list them separately even though they are for the same project?

All three should be listed with the project. List project just once. It should look like this:

Project Notebook/Rock/Shovel (Voice) Producer/Director

I respectfully disagree with kipmil. My opinion is that voiceover should have its own section unless you are playing a main character in an animated feature.

If you put it in another section then it is deceptive in the amount of work you've done. For example, my DD has done over 60 commercial V/Os. If I were to add it to the commercial section it would be deceptive in terms of how much on-camera commercial work she has done.

If your child has a short resume then you can list the V/O on the resume. Once he/she has a larger resume then simply put how many V/Os he/she has done and say List Available Upon Request.

Again, this is just my opinion.

I took an audition workshop w/a LA manager/coach/casting director and she said that voice over work doesn't belong on the resume (LA), it needs its own resume. Someone in my class had voice over work on theirs.
