I unfortunately am unable to afford vocal lessons for my daughter. Can anyone recommend a cd that can help her? Thanks.

Do you have a service you could barter for lessons? Maybe you could work something out with your DD's voice teacher, as far as typing, doing research, etc. in exchange.

Wouldn't recommend a CD to start.

Have you looked into children's choirs?

As far as barter - child care is often needed.

I agree with somuchtodo. A good children's chorus would be a fabulous learning experience for your daughter. She will get a foundation of good musicianship that will serve her well if she wishes to study voice privately in the future. And hopefully she will have fun singing with other kids! If you type into your search function "New York children chorus," you'll find a bunch of options come up. Give it a try and have her meet with a couple of the directors to see if there's a fit -- the worst that can happen is that she doesn't like it, but she won't know unless she tries.
Good luck!

Suggestion: Billy Purnell. He's a vocal teacher in the Los Angeles area, very difficult to get into, but my teen son has taken lessons from him and he is fabulous! Very performance oriented...not just technique.

He has a CD set that might be what you are looking for:

While choirs are nice, they are not historically known for nuturing the individual voice as you are part of a group. Most choirs don't do vocalizing, at least not on the child level.

I suggest checking your local community center or church and see what is available for vocal coaching. I would look for a teacher that allows me to sit in on the lesson as a silent calm observer.
