Hey everybody! I was wondering who was going to the open-call for the American Girl Show: Circle of Friends. I made it to the call-backs this summer and they invited me to the call-backs agian this time, so if anyone needs any info...or is in the show and has good tips on getting in post something! Thanks and good luck to everybody! (they are really nice there so don't be nervous!)

Would love any information you could provide. What is the callback process like, what are the kids asked to do? On the initial audition did you sing more of a belter type song?

I would totally go with a mixed voice song! They like that alittle bit better from what i understand. The call on November 11 is going to have singing and then a dancing call-back. The dancing is relativly easy...last time i went. They are very nice there. I'm not sure how many will be called back...but call-backs are a good experinece. You get to learn dancing and sometimes songs and lines from the play. Good luck! I hope i see u at call-backs!

There was tap in the old show...but not in circle of friends just musical theater movement. They normally stick to 16 bars UNLESS they ask you to do more. After i sang 16 bars they asked me to sing happy birthday. but plan on singing 16 bars.
No problem!

Do they mainly stick with in-state or NJ girls? Or do they even consider out of state girls? Once again, thanks for all the information, I hope you do great.

I'm not exactly sure...i've heard they are pretty tolerant about people from outside the city and in New Jersey (i live 45 min. outside the city)...they keep the days you have off from school and how long it takes for you to get there in case you would need to take someone's place. I am not sure about further away than about 1-2 hours away.

I remember reading that even though the kids went in with their 16 bars marked, sometimes the AG people selected the bars. Did anyone have this experience?
How does the afternoon callback work? Do they let you know right away?
When i sang, i sang 16 bars...i choose it. Then they asked me to sing happy birthday. At the call-backs this summer we learned songs, lines, and dances from the show. They let you know most of the time on this hotline that u call at a certain time after the call-backs to see who gets final call-backs...but this one might be differnet. AG Theater asked me to come back agian for the call-backs on November 11. Maybe i'll see you there!
