I am send my dd's headshot and resume to a casting director for a role does she need a cover letter or would a postit note with the character and name of the show be fine.

Post-its are okay and if it's a cover letter, keep it very short and sweet. Either is fine, but if you are using post-its, be sure to include 2 forms of contact info on the resume, i.e., cell number (never home phone) and an e-mail address.
