Has anyone's child taken Roger Becker's class at Madelyn Burns?...my dd goes to her camps and workshops and loves going there. She doesn't have an agent yet so is it a waste of time to take the class? Is it an advantage to have the demo they make as a tool to obtain an agent?

Thanks everyone Smiler

Having a VO demo is a huge advantage when submitting to agents & managers. VO work is a BIG part of the business. That is one of the better classes there because you get the demo and the agents like kids that can do VO work. Demos cost several hundred dollars to have made and since you are getting that demo for free the class basically pays for itself. It really is one of the best classes to take there because of that perk. My DD loves Roger Becker. He works at one of the biggest VO casting houses in NY so we see him often. If you dont have representation yet then the best classes there are Tisha's class, Erica's class or Roger's class. Stick with the classes that end with showcases. Hope that helps. Smiler

Actorsmommy I was hoping you'd know the answer LOL thank you so much for that info... I wasn't sure if it was something to do now or wait until she was signed with an agent. I'll be calling MB in the morning! Thanks again Smiler

My Child has taken both classes at MB's. Also is going to the camp on saturday. Roger is amazing with the kids and gives a tremendous showcase. Erica is wonderful my child adores her. Both are are extremeley supportive of the children. My child has been called often from the MB classes and showcases. His VO auditions almost doubled from Rogers class. Remember though every child and every oppurtunity is different. Our first couple times at MB"S did not bring immediate calls, but did bring great learning. We stuck with it and i am glad we did.. He has developed friendships from the workshops not to mention work. Timing is always the most important factor.

Like ARockstarsmom said, each and every kids experience will be different, but directly after taking one of Rogers weekend workshops my ds booked his first VO. So to me, it was definatly worth it and like Actorsmommy said, VO is a such a big part of this business. We are always being sent out on VO auditions. Hope that helps also and Good luck!

My dd has taken several classes there and loves them but never a voice over class cause the timing wasn't right. Is there an upcoming vo class scheduled?

It starts Tuesday. That is a great class and it is THE class that is responsible for getting my DD into the VO market. Before that showcase we had never auditioned for a VO. It was that class that broke open the door not only to VO work but to working with a particular agent we had always wanted to work with. Roger is also great. He takes the kids to his casting office and has them work in the booth. It's real experience. There is no other VO teacher in NYC offering classes that does this. It is a unique class. If you can only afford to take one class at The Performing Option, that is the class to take.
