I have two questions. The first is how do I find out about reputable student films and the second is how do I find out if my daughter is being sent out for enough commercial auditions. Her age range is 4-6 and she's only had about 3 commercial auditions this summer. She is with a large agency and they do send her out for film and voice over but not alot of commercials.

Columbia University Graduate Film School has their our own site for actors to post their picture and resume. I just registered my dd. You will need to upload a jpeg of your child's headshot and a pdf version of your child's resume. I found on online website for converting other file formats to pdf:

http://www.pdfonline.com/

I converted a word document to pdf without a problem and it's free. The first time I tried submitting the application the system said that there was an error and I would have to email the resume and photo. I hit the "back" button and tried to submit again and the second time it went through. I then got a message that someone from the film department would be contacting me.

Here's the casting homepage:

http://63.151.45.66/index.cfm?fuseaction=casting.viewMain

Click on "actor registration" on the left side to get to the online application.

Good Luck!

Thank you so much for the detailed info. Do you know if NYU has something similar:

You're welcome! I just found the Columbia site on my own today. I searched around the NYU site but could not find anything similar. I was just going to try to call their film department but haven't gotten around to it yet. Will post here again if I find any specific info on NYU. I think someone also mentioned SUNY Purchase but I have not even checked out their website yet.

Someone on the board reffered me to www.Mandy.com when my son first started in the biz. Hes done 2 really great student films and they both came from that website! NYU and Columbia seem to have the most reliable ones from which Ive been told and our experience was great with both schools. Good luck. They are a great "free" way for the kids to get experience.
