I just called the Van Nuys office and was told one week turnaround. But maybe that is the standard answer.

We use to send our work permit requests to Long Beach. They had them back to us within a week. The last one we sent over, we got a note back stating they are no longer providing the work permits and all requests now must go through Van Nuys. This might be why requests are taking longer.

However, if you live local (or are willing to do the drive), you can get the work permit renewed in person at the Van Nuys office. I got my daughter's renewed last week in person. It did not require a production notice as before. Took approx 20 minutes. Might be worth the drive rather than waiting 4-6 weeks even though they claim a 1 week turn around.
