I submitted my almost 17 month old daughter's photos online to Product and I received an email inviting her to a "by request only" open call. I've seen postings on here by others about these Product open calls and would love to hear from those who have experience with them, whether it is worth attending. Also, in the email, they said that if that date doesn't work, let them know and they will schedule another appointment later in the month (not sure if that is an open call too but if it is not, I would think that a one-on-one appointment would be better than an open call, no?).
The only other agency we've spoken with is Tannen's and they've sent my daughter on 2 go-sees in the month since we received her headshot.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions about attending the Product open call. And while I'm at it, I'll attach my daughter's headshot too and wouldn't mind comments about that too (wish I had gotten it done in color instead of black/white but I didn't realize that beforehand).

Hi Im new to all this, but my 10 months old daughter went to the open call on Feb 2nd and I think its worth the going. I see people post on message boards all the time how great Product is. The interview was a few minutes long, I was nervous because Good Morning America was there that day. They were so nice and called a few days later to say theyd like to work with her. Good Luck with everything!!

How long did it take to hear back? I mailed pics because I was unable to upload them to their site. I have no idea why. Did you have any problems? It gets to uploading 100% and doesn't finish. Thanks and good luck to you!

Hi, I emailed the pictures on there website and I think it was about 2-3 days till I herd back from them. I had proclems with the website too when I was uploading them, it takes a while. I also left some information out so it would let me send the pictues. Finally it ended up going through. I know there is a contact on there site if your having problems maybe you can email them. I would keep trying even though you mailed them pictures. did you send pictures to any other agencies?

Hayden's Mom, I submitted my photos via their website about 2 weeks before receiving their email back. I also had trouble uploading the photos at first but, while at this point, I can't remember how I did it, after a couple of tries I got it figured out.
(For some reason, I couldn't sign on with my original email address/password today so I signed up again hence I am now Iphy2, while in my previous posts, I was Iphy2.)

Hi!!! We just received a call inviting us to the open call too!!!!! Unfortunately, we will be in Florida (of course). She said we will be on a list for a future open call. Hope it's in April! Let's keep in touch about this exciting time!

Great to hear! Right now I'm planning to attend and I'll give you the scoop afterwards. Enjoy Florida -- warm weather will certainly be nice after the weather we've been "enjoying".

Hi! Have you received the email about next weekend yet? I haven't received anything since sending the confirmation email. Like I said, we're going to be away (boo!) so I am anxious to hear back from them. Good luck next weekend and please let me know how it goes

I haven't heard anything back since sending in the confirmation but the original email said that they will send the packet out anytime before March 1st.
Meanwhile, I'll admit that I'm having some second thoughts about going ... Even though i sent the confirmation that both girls will go, I am feeling very ambivalent about my 13 year old. I haven't told her about getting the invite yet b/c my husband has major hesitations about the impact modeling could have on a 13 year old. I've been chatting with lots of people including people who have been in the business both as models and on the agency side, and I'm not getting any solid list of pros while the cons are easy and obvious. If she were interested in acting, it would be easier to make a case for this but she doesn't.
Again, I would appreciate if anyone can help me by sending a list of benefits (or even one good one) my way.
Thanks!

I'm a mom of a little boy, so I don't have a ton of experience with this. But I would think that one HUGE pro would be confidence! I could be wrong, but I think young, confident women do very well in the world. If you decide not to take your 13-year-old, will you not take your little one either?

My husband's "concern" is that there is a bigger chance that her self-confidence and esteem could be lowered and, even if it is raised, his point of view is that one's confidence shouldn't be based on outside appearance and that we should be stressing beauty from the inside. I get where he's coming from yet I still want to offer the opportunity.
She's a great kid on the inside and she photographs really well. Moreover, while she is not lacking confidence, she has yet to go through puberty so while all her friends are much more physically developed than she is, this is one area where it is to her advantage that she looks young for her age. And it's not like she's been offered representation, she's just gotten the invite to the open call so I'm of the mind, let her to go that and if they do want to work with her, we can cross that bridge then. At this point, dh doesn't feel the same way.
Interestingly, he's fine with the little one going though but at this point, I'm undecided on whether I'll only bring one, both, or not go at all.

iphy2- for your older daughter, are we talking fashion modeling, or commercial print? Huge difference. The latter uses all types, not just beanpoles (thank God, because I <3 cake), and is very much based on personality, unlike the former's robotic (term used by a photographer I was chatting with) tendencies. If she's interested, why not let her try it? If she doesn't like it, be done with it, no harm done.
I'm snarky.

Thanks, Transfergirl. Yes, we are talking child modeling, not fashion. I'm curious about your experience... How old are you, how long have you been modeling and do you act as well?
