I think you can get a temp 14 day one but it doesn't take very long to get a regular permit--maybe a week. Just call them and ask, they are very willing to answer any questions.

It takes less than a week to get a NYS child performer work permit. I know that I mailed my daughter's renewal in and had it back almost immediately.

If the job is now, maybe you can call them and find out if they can fax you the new one? Their phone number is right on the application.

This is a good reminder that if your child's permits expire over the summer, have your school stamp/sign the form now!

They will normally not let you work without the permit because the production company can get heavily fined. But if you have already mailed in the paperwork, you can call them and ask them to fax the new permit to you.
As someone else mentioned, you can also get a one time temporary permit on-line but that is only if you have never used your temp yet.
Good Luck.
I know we have cut it close before and I vowed never to let that happen again. This business is so crazy. You can go months without booking anything and then the day your permit expires is the day you'll book a great job. Murphy's Law!

I am actually surprised how efficient they are! I've emailed them with a couple of questions in the past and they have always responded within a couple of hours. Also, the work permit has gotten to me no longer than a week and 1/2. I'm pretty sure the temp. permit is a one time only situation, but I could be wrong about that.

flygal,

There is a telephone number right on the application. And in my DD's case she can't get a 15 day temp permit because she's already had a 6 month permit, so it's a renewal.

Drama Diva call them and they will fax you the copy so you don't have to wait, we cut it close once too and murphys law struck, but they faxed it and it was fine, they were so nice at the office. I now send it a month before hand to be safe!

I find it takes a week to get the original back, so they are very fast! Smiler

Model permits are different than performer permits. My dd was required to have a model permit on a job ONE time several years ago (that company no longer requires them either). I have seen discussions though that Product requires all their models to have a current permit. I would check with your agency. Other than that one time, we have never needed one for anything else and my dd has done quite a bit of print.
