If you are with an agency (smaller one in this case), but search, audition, and get a role on your own, do you need to tell the casting director and/or agent? I don't see why the agent would get a fee for something they did not submit you for. If yes, than what do you do if listed with 2 agencies?

yes, you do. look at your contract with the agency. part of the business; agent gets there percentage of ANY jobs worked during the contract period. not sure what to do if you're with two agencies freelancing.

Print agencies have nothing to do with on-camera and you are free to do whatever you want on your own. Unless you are with Willy's Kids, because I think they sign all of their kids to exclusive management contracts across the board.
Print agents don't really want to hear about what else you are doing because they want you available for them, lol.

the best thing to do would be to talk to your agent and find out how they feel about self submissions. Some are fine with it and won't ask for the commission, others will want you to sign in under their agency so that they get their commission and others will not want you to self submit at all. Some people will use their agency name to make them more marketable then not want to give them the credit when their name get s them in the door in the first place. Maybe that's one of the reasons that agencies aren't crazy about self submissions. Best thing, just ask so you are on the same page and your conscience is clear that you aren't offending you agent if you do self submit.
