Hi there!

My DDs are 5 and this summer I was thinking it may be fun for them to take an acting class, acting workshop, or maybe even voice lessons. Does anyone have any recommendations for the NJ/NY metro area? NJ would be very convenient, but I would travel into NYC too.

Are they too young to get anything out of acting classes/workshops or voice training? If so, at what age should they start?

My DDs just finished their first feature film and they had an amazing & fantastic experience so I thought maybe some training might help them evolve and still keep the "acting bug" alive.

They can not read (yet), but memorize pretty well. Their film role did have lines and according to the director, they were "naturals".

Thanks for any advice/recommendations! Smiler

Performers Theater Workshop offers a nice summer program--not sure if it will be in Livingston or South Orange.

Madelyn burns has a fun class for young children at her studio not far from Penn Station.

I would think 5 is young for voice training. Maybe vocal coaching would be ok at that age. My older DD started private voice lessons/vocal coaching when she was 8. It seemed right for her.

Thanks kipmil and showbizhopeful for the info. I will look into the Madelyn Burns and PTW (have seen many ads for this place) programs. By the way kipmil, do you happen to have Madelyn Burns' phone number to call about info for her classes? I know I've seen it on the board before but I can't remember where. Thanks so much in advance! Smiler
