Do you think it's possible to still go to auditions, book jobs, etc. while in college?

In my own little world.

Depending on what and where you are studying. I know several college kids that are able to do that. On the other hand some schools do not allow you to audition when you are first beginning in their program.

It is really tough to audition and work during college because of the lack of control over timing and classes you must attend. For example, if you have labs, you can't miss them, but if you turn down too many auditions you won't get sent out.

I have heard over and over again that it's not a reality. What if you book a job and it's a 2 week shoot? Do you miss 2 weeks of classes? Teachers are not very understanding from what I've been told. Best to do one or the other.

Here is SUNY Purchases policy
Policy on Casting and Production
All students work in productions as cast. Because of the rigorous nature of the Acting Program, all coursework and extracurricular work or projects must be approved in advance by the student’s faculty advisor. If a student becomes involved with such a project or work without the knowledge and consent of the student’s faculty advisor, the student may be subject to probation and/or dismissal.

I look down the road in 4 years for my youngest son.
