Hello,
I wanted to know how to go about getting a publicist for my child? I've tried using Google but was not successful in my search. He has done one theatrical movie due out in 2010 and a TV movie this year, Is now the time? Can anyone tell me who the big names are and what to expect in price?

There is an excellent thread on publicists over on the Parf board. You may want to check it out. Publicists are very expensive and if your son just did a film, im sure the studio has a publicist you can make use of around the time of the films release.
Most kids don't need a publicist, especially at your son's stage, but if you really want one, go to IMDB Pro and look up the names of actors in your sons range ( as well as others)that you admire and who seem to get a lot of press. Their publicists ( with contact info etc.)are usually listed.

I think this article at BizParentz might help you decide about the publicist. It's specifically about publicists for kids, and how to decide when to get one:

I would also suggest buying Bonnie Gillespie's book "Self-Management for Actors" THIRD Edition. She has a whole chapter on publicists.

Thank you Henryshowbiz! Just what I needed, actual names to agencies! What should I expect to pay for a good one? Also, we've never been to "LA". Should I take the chance of going out there with him since he's got some commercials & movies under his belt?

There's an entertainment PR firm in New York City-SJ Golden Associates, Inc. (212.683.1777) that has specializes in the entertainment industry for over 20-years and more recently began focusing on works with child actors and singers. Hope that's helful.
