I can't seem to find anything for kids when I search the castings. Am I doing something wrong? I just used keywords child, kids.

Why doesn't Backstage have a separate category for children?

Ask them, maybe they would make one.

They do - you have to pay for that service!

We do have a subscription to backstage.com, and can search the castings. Like AJ'smom, I use keywords like child, girl etc.
I would be happy to pay for a service that separates out the opportunities for kids - do you have a link for that?

If you do an advanced search, you can put in an age range and then save it and always run the same search.

Question to those not new to the business, do you recommend purchasing membership to Backstage to get info for castings for kids? For those that do have membership did the investment pay off? Or is is best to have an agent or representation when you do go to these castings?

Thanks for any input.

You don't need representation to submit to the castings in Backstage. That being said, the Backstage castings are rarely the same ones agents get. If you're interested in theatre castings, you can usually find the same ones in Playbill.com and on the Equity website.
