HI all. Just a few questions maybe you guys can help..I read on this board a lot you guys do mass mailing of your children's pictures. Do you send them out to casting people and agencies?? What is your turn around? Do you get a lot of calls from casting people? If you already have a agent is it necessary to do mass mailing? four of my children are just starting out. So I do need to find a agent for them. There are interested in model/commercials.
Also I know a few people on this site register with online castings (nycasting, etc.). Has your child got any work from them? Is it worth it to pay the monthly fees for children?
I am new to this and I see so many people have great advice to give. I would appreciate all your help Smiler

i am new myself with an 11 yr old ds and a 6 yr old dd. I did a mass mailing yesterday to agents. I also did register on nycasting.com which allows you to build a resume and post pics of your child and directly submit it to castings you are intrested in. i just did this myself so i have no turn-around news i can give you but i know for us it is worth the 10 bux a month online until we can find an agent. Good luck!!

I use nycastings with an "s" and my DD has booked a commericial and gotten calls from top CD's. i like them because you can upload tons of pics and design your own resume. Then when you submit, you can add a personal message. With four kids, sign up for one account and load all four kids onto it. When you submit you can choose the kid to submit and then explain in the notes why there are a bunch of kids in your gallery. I am sure this is not how they want you to do it, but it works.

I am totally confused about how to submit through backstage castings so i never did it. We also use Actor's Access, which is free until you submit and them it's $2 per submission.

You should put ALL your energy into finding an agent or a manager because i found it very stressful to self-submit. You have to be on top of it all the time and it's just too much.

In the end, you have to decide for yourself what works and what doesn't. There are 1,000's of kids trying to do this and it's a long shot no matter what. As long as you are having fun, keep at it. And Good luck!

Get Henderson's The Agencies book - it's not quite a "book" but more like a report you used to staple together when you were a kid. You can get it on line or at Drama Bookstore in the city, other places as well but I'm not sure where. They list agencies and who they work with. There is also a Managers book and a casting directors guide. All from Henderson and all come out quarterly I think.

You should go to the Drama Bookstore - West 46th I think. It's filled with wonderful resources!

Good luck!

walida, it was soo confusing to me at first as well but it takes like 2 seconds to direct submit once youve gone through the whole process of filling out the pages. I read one of the other posts says she uploaded pics of all her children on the same page and when submitting just let the person know on the cover letter which kid she was submitting for. I only use this for my 11 yr old ds and not for my 6 yr old dd. If you can figure out how to use it its very fast after you learn how to do it. Good luck

Stacy,
I emailed someone from the company & they responded stating that most cd's don't like for more than one person/child to be on the page.

I was so confused witht it last nite - I said to heck with it & just kept my son alone on the page.

I now need to "compress" a photo of him that they would accept - ugh!

I myself only did one child as well but i have read posts that others have put multiple kids on too. Anyways i hope you can figure out how to do it because it is simple to direct submit when yor done with everything. I havent heard from anyone that ive submitted to yet but its only been a week since ive even subscribed to it. I did go on mandy.com though through a recommendation from another post and have 2 auditions for my son that weve submitted for (student films) not sure what your looking for but you may want to just look at the site. GOod Luck!
