I'm sure many of you tuned in to watch this show hosted by Danny Bonaduce. Are you going to tell me these contestants were the best they could come up with after holding nationwide castings? Oh that's right, it's "reality" TV which really isn't reality. They seemed to have picked the contestants based on how crazed their parents are and not whether these kids have the potential to be a star.

Having a child in this business for a couple of years made it obvious to me that this show is all about shock TV and not about giving a child a potential break into the business. There are hundreds of kids that have the talent and have parents who know a bit about the business. They obviously were smart enough to run from this audition.

If anything this show is a lesson in itself of what not to do with your child.

I'm sure they are the best sensational stories they could come up with ... and the best of the ones who were naive enough to agree to be on this show. This is a genre with which I am quite familiar...this show is PRODUCED. It is nothing more than a televised trainwrek produced for the sake of ratings. I spent many years of my career behind the scenes in network talk and reality TV production...I can tell you that you should not waste an ounce of time or energy comparing your kid to these. These families were CAST for their outrageousness and the ratings and publicity they would draw, not the kids' talent. Don't bother thinking about this for another second...and most importantly...DO NOT WATCH. It will be like watching a train wreck...you won't be able to stop looking.

That's what that was! I was flipping through channels and landed on vh1 to see a little girl who was pouring her heart out in song. I didn't know what she was auditioning for but then I saw Danny Bonaduce and I said to myself this is not right and I turned the channel. It was like the audition process for american idol for kids. Why must we exploit our kids? The stage moms and dads show was bad enough. What will they do next?

I refuse to even watch. DB and the producers of this show are using these people for publicity and ratings. These people are stupid enough to agree to be used in this way. The whole lot of them should be ashamed. BTW - I did not watch the clip, have not seen the show and do not plan to watch.

How would you stop it and why? These people made choices and willingly signed contracts to do this show.

The best thing anyone can do is learn from it. And I mean what NOT to do with your child. Danny Bonaduce is a poster child for what can happen to child stars when they are not managed properly. Now he's become the exploiter instead of the exploitee. Go figure.

That is sort of true. Speaking from the production side of this monster, producers lie to get guests to agree to appear. They tell potential guests what they want to hear...that they will be in the limelight...no publicity is bad publicity...your kid will be seen...blah blah blah. Also, producers bait guests into saying and doing things they might not normally say or do. So, the guest did sign contracts, but they probably did not know how bad they were going to be made to look. That's why I say NEVER go on these shows...the producers are up to no good and will do anything for ratings/money.

Why stop it? Did you see the clip?
The level of humiliation and emotional abuse this child is subjected to now is nothing compared to what she will experience when this is over. Plenty of children have unstable parents - to allow an unstable parent to exploit her child is just wrong. The child had no control.

I feel bad for that kid. The mother is pressuring the kid to win so SHE can have a "dream house".... Why doesn't the mother just go get a JOB --- she'd make a great stripper or hooker from the looks of her --- and buy her OWN "dream house" and let her kid be a kid!

It will be interesting to see how long it takes for Dr. Phil to "once again" use this show to make all stage parents look bad and irresponsible like he has done in the past. *grumble grumble*

I know what you mean Mom in Biz. When Dr. Phil had his show last year with kids and their parents I was just starting to look into helping my son get started. Since then I've met lots of parents and though some can be a little obsessed, I haven't met any that were like the ones he had on his show and most are just normal parents like me....well okay maybe "normal" isn't the best description for me! ;-)

For these types of shows.... Showbiz Moms & Dads, Dr. Phil, I Know My Kid's A Star, etc --- they always choose THE most outrageous parent(s) to be on... A bunch of outrageous parents and then one down to earth parent with a truly talented kid.

On the Dr. Phil series, it was so obvious from day one which kid was going to win. Same thing with Showbiz Moms & Dads --- you just KNEW that little girl and her mom were going to be successful. I only watched a part of one episode of this new one... I'm going to watch it this week and I'll make a prediction on who's going to win. I can already tell you, they're going to keep the Slutty Mama around for ratings...she'll be there until they get to the final 3 or 4.

I found the show repulsive. I wanted to slap it. The parents are disgusting, and the kids were talentless. Hmm, I'm just waiting for the next season of KidNation! That's some crazy stuff. Lord of the Flies! haha.

I watched this show and I have to say that none of those kids have talent.
That's just my opinion.
They all seemed unproffesional and and it looked as if some of those parents wern't even in it for their kid.
Not a good how at all.
