To our manager, "on hold" means that the client has narrowed down their choices of talent and are reviewing the audition tapes to pick which person or persons they want to book. When you are put on hold, you are expected to keep the date/s open that they are scheduled to shoot. There's more to it than that, but this is the "readers condensed" version. BTW, the two kids that were on hold w/ our manager, booked it---so calls have already gone out on this one.

Unless you've got an on hold contract, giving up work or auditions for someone else's convenience is ridiculous. If they want you "on hold" they'll pay you for keeping the day open, whether or not they use you.

Which is why I said "readers condensed version". I knew about the on hold contract, but didn't feel that in this thread it was worth going into. There are many other threads addressing that.
