Patti tells you that Gen works on a "good faith agreement" that basically says that while you are working with her, you won't work with anyone else.

Product says the same thing. It's a verbal agreement.

Chiming in here as a parent whose child is represented by GenTv....they are exclusive and in my case they represent my daughter across the board....You DON'T sign ANYTHING it's a verbal agreement that while you are with them that you will not work with any other agencies because we all know that a child under 18 CANNOT be held to a contract! If you do decide to go the open call to meet with Patti I would suggest that you are honest and upfront with her! GOOD LUCK Smiler

My daughter is also with Generation across the board in all three departments and you do not sign anything, just have a "good faith" agreement. We met with Product also but went with Gen because of the other depts. I do know some kids that are only with 1 department though and have different agents for different things. You just can't be with both print agents at the same time. If you have a manager, you can work with different agencies, but if you are with the agency directly without a manager, you are to be faithful to them. Good luck! We love Generation Model and Generation TV!

I am with Generation and I have gotten direct bookings from clients that only work with them, which is a wonderful advantage. I cant say enough about them. They have the right combination of caring and aggressiveness that every parent should look for. If you have the time, you should definitely go to their open call this Saturday 5/17 between 930 and 2 at their office (20 W20th between 5th and 6th, suite 1008). I spoke to the agents at Generation this morning and their busy season is already in full gear!

I'm not sure(Generation) but I think you pay to be on the website.I know it's that way with Product,That's the only thing you pay for. That's the new thing now with the agencies. It's ok I guess, it gives your child more exposure. And clients have direct access.Instead of just your agency sending out your comps/snapshot to prospective clients.

thanks so much!!! do you think, i should do that, or do you think, having Gen as an agency is enough, and posting the picture on their website is not worth it?

I mean I did it for my son to give him more exposure and easy access to clients.I mean it is up to you.The agencies will still send your dd's stuff out equally if they are right for that paticular job.I mean it is a choice you would have to make.If you are financially able. Then go ahead. It won't hurt it will only help.

We've been asked by Generation to come to NYC for the summer, can anyone offer suggestions on temp housing from June - August in a safe & kid friendly area? I'm familiar with Craigslist & the Village Voice, but I was hoping other parents may know of some reliable, alternative resources. Thanks so much!

I know that Generation doesnt put anyone under 3 yrs on their site (typically). I also know that they are very careful about not asking anyone for money until their child starts to make money. They are very considerate and there is no pressure. I also know that it is very worthwhile to do because so many clients refer to the website when requesting for go sees or doing direct bookings. Don't worry about the timing. Patti is so good at letting you know when your child should be added on and/or get professional pictures.
