I know there has been a forum on Shirley Grant. I know they do a lot for young kids. Does anyone have any experience with them for teenagers? Brian has been offered a 3 year exclusive contract. Thanks.

My daughter just shot an independent feature and there were a few kids who were repped by her.

Thanks ladies. Brian is 17 but looks 14 on film but we were concerned that they seem to place young children and don't know much about how often they place mid to older teenagers.

LOL - I know that's a good term in show biz - but I couldn't help but think that if he broke everybody else's legs (like the Mob), he'd have a lot less competition.

Thanks.

BEWARE, WAS IT WITH A RENEWAL OPTION. MY DAUGHTER WAS ALSO OFFERED AN EXCLUSIVE 3 YEAR CONTRACT BUT WITH A 3 YEAR RENEWAL OPTION AND WE DECLINED IT SINCE IT'S RATHER A LONG TERM CONTRACT. WE TRIED TO NEGOTIATE A 2 YEAR WITH A 2 YEAR RENEWAL OPTION. ULTIMATELY, WE DID NOT WANT TO LIMIT HER IN THE FUTURE. GOOD LUCK!

We had trouble with the 3 year with 2 year renewal so she's changed it to a 3 year with a 2 year renewal agreeable by both parties. That seems a little easier to swallow.

Ummmmm, isn't that the same thing? Did you mean 2 year with 1 year renewal?

I think the difference is that it has to be agreeable by both parties, therefore, they have an out.

KatieO is right - the option part now has to be agreeable by both parties whereas before it was SG's decision.

I posted this in another thread and don't even know if it's any help. But I'll repost it here in case it helps.

I booked some background work through her when I was on a summer trip to NYC through a relationship with SG and my agent. Two of the jobs were feature films. She paid on time although I was originally quoted a larger number but hey, that may not have been her fault. The point is, I was paid on time.

Mia,
I'm confused.... you were quoted a larger amount for background, but received less? Typically, background in NY is $75/day for Non Union and $123/day for Union. They DO take taxes out.
Also, you normally get paid directly and then send the agent or manager their commission.
How did it work with you and how much were you paid?

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, I was quoted a different amount than received. I was quoted $100/8 hr before taxes and commission and all that but received $70/8 before taxes and commission. Wasn't sure what happened but since I didn't live there and was already home when I got paid, I didn't complain and just accepted it. lol I don't know if it was the thing to do or not but I figured it would be a waste of time to argue.
