Hey all. I'm possibly moving to Indiana in the next month or so...I currently live in New Jersey so you can obviously see the HUGE difference... :\ I'm not sure which part of Indiana I could be moving to, maybe towards Indianapolis or further North. I'm interested in looking into Chicago talent agencies, however. So I'm curious as to how far in distance will a talent agent represent someone? Like how far can they be away from them? Would love to know Smiler Thank you!

Wow that is far! Hmmm. If I were you and if you have a New York agent I would ask them. or maybe start up another thread and ask people about agencies near (or as close to Indiana as possible). Other than that I know in NY agents like there talent to be relatively close. (within two hours maybe even closer. Good Luck with your move! Wink

I am in the Chicago area and know of a child who lives in Ohio who drives in to auditions - almost a 6 hr drive each way. I would say this is not the norm, but some will do it. Check with your current agency and see what they suggest, they have contacts all over the place! Good luck!

Props to these people who drive for to make auditions.

Realistically, unless you're a big deal or a serious commodity. no agent is really going to want to take someone who is more than an hour or two away from an audition. What if you don't make it on time or can't because of transportation issues? Now not only did you make yourself look bad, but you made the agency look bad in the eyes of the casting director, thus giving your agent a good reason to drop you.

Here's an idea to help persuade a Chicago agent to rep you, or to keep your current NJ/NY agent: show them how well you can audition on tape. This way, they'll still keep you in mind when bd's come in. Create a sample or two using pro equipment (cheap enough to buy these days.. don't forget great lighting) and wow them. GL
