I have a 14 year old son that looks alot younger, more like 11 or 12. He's recently done quite a few student films and he was picked up by a manager late last year. I haven't heard anything from his manager but I figured since the writers strike was going on that could be part of it. I know there is alot more work available in New York but I prefer to stay in Philly since I have 3 other children and that makes too much traveling hard. Can anyone with boys age 11 to 14 in Philly tell me how many auditions come your way in Philly?

CV Talent, now VS Talent. I have a friend whose daughter, the same age, gets a decent amount of auditions. I know my son won't be going on modeling jobs, he's not the type. He would be a definite character type. He could easily play an underdog, nerd, goofy, intelligent or quirky type. He would never be a heartthrob. Don't get me wrong, my son is adorable but he's small for his age, skinny, braces and I just think he would always be typecast as the proverbial underdog.

You may just want to call and speak with Viola and voice your concerns, she's pretty good when you communicate with her one on one!

There will always more quality work available in NYC, and if an audition's important enough, it may warrant a Greyhound Bus ride into the city on occasion. In any event, you certainly want to get you child's headshot and res to Michael Lemon Casting in Philly. He had a long-standing affiliation with M. Night Shyamalan and was responsible for casting all his major film projects there. Certainly worth the effort.
Tell him that I recommended you.

Thanks Drama Diva and Robert Kim. I just mailed Viola a copy of a student film my son was in this summer that I recently got so I'll talk to her after she see's it and hopefully this will put us back on her radar.

As far as Mike Lemon, we were there Saturday for a teen open call so he does have his picture and resume now. My son was also in M. Night's latest movie as an extra. He really lucked out and was an extra for 6 days! From the trailer it looks like the parts he was in was pretty important to the movie. Although you don't see him in the trailer you see some of the scenes he worked on and there should be scenes that come before that and after as well. If anyone wants to see the trailer go to www.thehappeningmovie.com . The scenes my son did were the ones you see with a group of people in a field.

Robert Kim, I agree it's worth going into NYC for a really good part. I wouldn't need to take a gray hound to do it either. I would probably just drive to the Metro Park in NJ and take the train in from there. I wouldn't do that for just anything but the right part would get us there. Our main problem is that I have 2 younger boys ages 3 & 5 that make going to NY harder. My 5 year old is in Kindergarten which helps but the 3 year old I would need to find someone to watch him. Believe me, I don't want to be dragging him along to NY!
