We are in Florida and just starting to get my five year old involved. We sent her snapshots to a couple of agencies and signed non-exclusives with both. We had a shoot this weekend to get photos together for her comp card and will see them later this week. Florida seems to be very slow in the summer time though so I can't imagine we will get much to begin with (we are in central Florida). My biggest concern is her height..she recently turned five and is already 48" (possibly 49"). She's taller than all of her peers, boys and girls. This doesn't bode well for child models, does it? Here are a couple of snapshots...
Thank you!

Is it impossible? She wears size 6 in clothing. Does anyone have any taller children in the business and have they done okay? We are close enough to Miami that we could sign with agencies there as well. There is a lot of commercial work where we are and more print down in Miami. Lastly, any opinions on her particular look and is she is marketable? Any advice is appreciated! TIA!

Hi, My son is the opposite. He is so much smaller than kids his age and i thought that would be a problem. While im not sure how it works for child models, i know for child actors they prefer older children who are smaller to play certain age roles than the actual age if possible. It is easier to have an older child who can take direction better than a younger child. Im not sure about modeling but id think it could possible be the same situation. Your dd is beautiful though and maybe because shes so cute it wont matter, Good Luck!!!!

She is adorable! For tv/film they tend to look for older but smaller to play younger. My 8 year old is the height of your daughter and has been cast as young as 5, with printwork I find clothing size is what they look for although certain places such as H&M will look for specific heights. My 6 year old wears a size 5 and has been called more at this size then when he was a 4, I think size 5 and 10 are pretty busy.
I think if your daughter has what they're looking for she will book no matter if she's tall or not! and she's very cute! Good Luck!
