If you go the Auditions section, someone started a thread there about it. I had been thinking about it, too, but now I'm not going to have dd even audition. The process (Idol-style, described on his website) sounded a bit off, too.

Thank you. I took a look at it. The post is from 2 years ago and pertains to adults.
I wonder if anyone has experience with a kid production with him ? It's always good to go on an audition. I don't like the "IDOL" wording either. My DD likes the idea of doing something besides a musical. I may have her go on the audition just for the experience.

I was going to bring my child to the audition until I saw the "Idol" wording and now I am not too sure. Do you think it is just a ploy to sell classes? I don't want to have to waste my time although the audition experience would be good.

several years ago when i lived in NJ, i did some audition coaching with him. he did it in the basement of his house, which was set up quite well. i was so green and had no clue what i was doing, but i remember thinking at the time that he was helpful.

he had an incredible music library, but i guess in my nerves and green color, he gave me sheet music to work on that in retrospect, i don't think fit me. i never used the songs, so that's ok, and i think i booked the job i coached with him on, which allowed me to get my union card.

but i couldn't afford him (even though he was cheap by industry standards) so i stopped using him, then i moved into the city.

he only coached me twice, but he used my credits on his "My students have appeared in..." list, even though i did all of that work years before i met him, which i think is weird and unfair. he should only be listing credits of his students for jobs he coached them on that they booked, not practically stealing our resumes. i don't know.

but i know nothing of his productions because i'm AEA, so i can't audition for him.

This may not totally answer your question because I have not taken his group classes, but I currently study voice with him privately and I really like working with him. His midtown studio is very conveniently located, he has recommended a lot of appropriate songs for me, and he really knows his stuff in terms of voice training. I've studied voice for over 10 years, so I would know if someone didn't know what they were doing. Hope that helps!
